Blașcovici
Blașcovici (deprecated: Colonia Blascovici; hu, Blaskovitstelep; german: Blaskowitsch Kolonie) is a district of Timișoara. At the beginning of the 20th century, Blașcovici was a colony of Mehala. Before that, a wealthy family of Roman Catholic canons, the Blaskovits, lived here. It is said that they had a house somewhere near the former headquarters of the Traffic Police, from where, so far as Ronaț, the garden of their domain stretched. Mehala
Mehala ( hu, Ferencváros; german: Franzstadt; sr, Мехала, Mehala; obsolete: Măhală) is a district of Timișoara. Mehala evolved from a slum-like village (in Turkish ''mahale'' means "slum") to a neighborhood of houses, villas and many gardens. It is one of the oldest satellite villages of Timișoara and was built in the higher part of the city, west of Palanca Mare. It officially became part of the city in 1910. History Antiquity Mehala was supposedly inhabited in the pre-Dacian period. An Eneolithic settlement was identified here in the 1970s. Further archeological excavations brought to surface several ceramic fragments from the classical Dacian period (1st century BC–1st century AD) and the Árpád dynasty (11th–12th centuries). Ottoman occupation Mehala has long been an independent commune, whose name comes from the Turkish language, ''mahale'' meaning "slum" or "suburb". Ronaț
Ronaț ( hu, Rónáctelep; german: Ronaz) is a district of Timișoara. History A rural settlement from the Daco-Roman era (2nd–4th centuries AD) and an incineration necropolis from the Early Middle Ages (10th–11th centuries) were discovered here in the 1980s. Both were listed in the National Register of Historic Monuments in 2004. Ronaț appeared around 1900 as a workers' colony. The history of this district is closely linked to CFR, most of Ronaț's inhabitants being at some point its employees and their families. The CFR Pavilions were built in the 1930s. Initially, they served as homes for CFR staff, being later converted into a halt mainly for commuters. The current station, from which Ronaț got its name, is today a freight terminal.
