Blanks, Louisiana
Blanks is the name of an unincorporated community located in southwestern Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, United States. The community is said to have been named after Handsell B. Blanks. Blanks was part owner of the Bomer-Blanks Lumber Company that once operated in the area. A post office was established in the community in 1913, but has since been shut down and merged with the post office in the neighboring town of Lottie.Lockhart, John M. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. It is a type of gazetteer. It was developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) to promote the standardization of feature names. Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana
Pointe Coupee Parish ( or ; french: Paroisse de la Pointe-Coupée) is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 22,802; in 2020, its population was 20,758. The parish seat is New Roads. Pointe Coupee Parish is part of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2010, the center of population of Louisiana was located in Pointe Coupee Parish, in the city of New Roads. History Point Coupee is the oldest settlement on the lower Mississippi, having been made by some wandering Canadian trappers as early as 1708.
