Blake Beemer
Blake Thomas Beemer (born March 4, 1991) is a baseball coach and former outfielder and first baseman, who is the current head baseball coach of the Butler Bulldogs. He played college baseball at Ball State. Playing career Beemer grew up in Dayton, Ohio, where he attended Northmont High School, where he was a three-year letterwinner for the Thunderbolts in baseball, but also participated in soccer. He batted .422 as a senior in 2009. Beemer enrolled at Ball State University, where he played baseball for the Cardinals. In 2010, his freshman year, he appeared in 51 games (making 45 starts), slashing .328/.448/.846 with 2 home runs, 28 runs batted in (RBIs), 11 doubles, and 40 runs scored. Following his freshman performance, Beemer entered the 2011 season with high expectations for his sophomore year. A sophomore slump which saw his batting average fall to .212 by March 7. The Butler Bulldogs baseball team represents Butler University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The Bulldogs play their home games at Bulldog Park. History The Bulldogs first fielded a varsity baseball team in 1901. They began competition in the Big East Conference in 2014, as they left the Atlantic 10 Conference following the 2013 season. In baseball, a double is the act of a batter striking the pitched ball and safely reaching second base without being called out by the umpire, without the benefit of a fielder's misplay (see error) or another runner being put out on a fielder's choice. The 2020 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft took place on June 10 and 11, 2020. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. The draft order was set based on the reverse order of the 2019 MLB season standings. In addition, compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2019 MLB draft and for teams who lost qualifying free agents. Trey Sweeney
Trey Thomas Sweeney (born April 24, 2000) is an American professional baseball shortstop for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Eastern Illinois Panthers. He was selected by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2021 MLB draft and traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023 and Detroit Tigers in 2024.
