Bjørn Klakegg
Bjørn Klakegg (born 30 January 1958 in Skien, Norway) is a Norwegians, Norwegian jazz musician (guitar) and composer, known from a number of recordings and cooperations with the likes of Nils Petter Molvær, Sverre Gjørvad, Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk, Frode Alnæs, Knut Værnes, Knut Reiersrud, Hanne Hukkelberg, Tove Karoline Knutsen, Terje Gewelt and Tore Brunborg. Career With his brother, the jazz pianist Rune Klakegg, he played in bands led by Guttorm Guttormsen when he was young. He studied music at "Toneheim folkehøgskole" (1978) and on the Jazz program at Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet, Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1979–83). During his studies he established his own bands with among others his fellow students Nils Petter Molvær, Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk, Frode Alnæs and Tore Brunborg, before he settled in Oslo and joined Sun (Norwegian band), Sun, Extended Noise, Out to Lunch (band), Out to Lunch and Nuku. Needlepoint (band)
Needlepoint (initiated in 2010 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz-rock band. Biography Needlepoint includes some leading Norwegian jazz musicians according to Tor Hammerø. The band started out as a trio with Bjørn Klakegg, Nikolai Hængsle and Thomas Strønen in 2010 releasing the album ''The Woods Are Not What They Seem'' (2010). David Wallumrød joined the team in 2012 and the album ''Outside The Screen'' was released the same year. Olaf Olsen (drummer), Olaf Olsen known from Bigbang (Norwegian band), Bigbang, replaced Thomas Strønen in 2014. He was replaced with Ola Øverbye, known from Fieh, in 2024. The latest album ''Walking up That Valley'' was released in 2021. They operate in a soundscape somewhere between psychedelic 1970's rock and jazz-rock. Tore Brunborg
Tore Brunborg (born 20 May 1960) is a Norwegians, Norwegian jazz musician and composer who plays saxophone. He was born in Trondheim but grew up in Voss where a jazz environment was flowering. Known from numerous appearances with international greats including Bugge Wesseltoft, Håvard Wiik, Audun Kleive, Anders Jormin, Diederik Wissels, Arild Andersen, Pat Metheny, Per Jørgensen, Geir Lysne, Misha Alperin, Bjørn Alterhaug, Jan Gunnar Hoff, Jarle Vespestad, Jon Christensen (musician), Jon Christensen, Jon Balke, Nils Petter Molvær, Vigleik Storaas, Bo Stief, and Billy Cobham. Career After playing with Knut Kristiansen and Per Jørgensen, Brunborg debuted at Vossajazz (1980, 1982). Nils Einar Vinjor (born 15 December 1962 in Øvre Årdal, Norway) is a Norwegian guitarist known for his solo albums and the collaboration with musicians like Silje Nergaard, Iver Kleive and Knut Reiersrud. Career Vinjor, residing in Oslo, is known in Norway as a central guitarist and composer on the Norwegian musical scene. As a freelance musician Vinjor played together with a number of famous Norwegian performers, and also toured in several European countries and East-Asia. Extended Noise
Extended Noise (established 1982) was a Norwegian Jazz Quintet. Their first album ''Keep nose in front'' (1984) under the name AHA was released after an acclaimed appearance at Moldejazz 1983, followed by the Extended nose album ''Jamaha'' (1986) where Alnes was substituted for Klakegg. The change of name was dued to the competition from the Norwegian pop band "a-ha". The last record was ''Slow but Sudden – Langsam, aber Plötzlich'' (Odin Records, 1990), in the US on Cadence Jazz Records 1992), now as Extended Noise as a Quartet without guitars and with compositions by One Pedersen for the most.
