Björnlandet National Park
Björnlandet is a national park in Västerbotten County, northern Sweden. It was established in 1991 and covers an area of . Geographically it lies in southernmost Lappland, about southwest of the hamlet (locality) of Fredrika, in Åsele Municipality. The park is notable for its large primeval forest and a geography that is distinguished by steep ravines and precipices. The fauna is comparatively of lower interest, due to the harsh climate and environment. Lapland, also known by its Swedish name Lappland, is a province in northernmost Sweden. It borders the Swedish provinces of Jämtland, Ångermanland, Västerbotten, and Norrbotten, as well as Norway and Finland. Nearly a quarter of Sweden's land area is in Lapland. The historical province of Lapland originally extended further eastward. Åsele Municipality () is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Västerbotten County in northern Sweden. Its administrative centre, seat is located in the town of Åsele. It is located in the southernmost fringe of Lapland (Sweden), Lapland. History The first Swedish settlement in Åsele Municipality (it was already inhabited by the native Sami people) was in Gafsele south of Åsele. The settlers were Nils Andersson and his wife Brita. National Parks Of Sweden
National parks of Sweden are managed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) () and owned by the state. The goal of the national park service is to create a system of protected areas that represent all the distinct natural regions of the country.
