Nýdönsk (alternatively Ný dønsk or Ný dönsk, literally New Danish) is an Icelandic musical group established in 1987 by Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson, Björn Jörundur Friðbjörnsson, Ólafur Hólm Einarsson, Einar Sigurðsson and Valdimar Bragi Bragason with their debut album ''Ekki er á allt kosið'' released in 1989. The follow-up album ''Regnbogaland'' in 1990 signalled various changes in the line-up with some members departing and the inclusion of Jón Ólafsson and Stefán Hjörleifsson. The band has released a number of successful albums and compilations. After a hiatus, the band came back in 2007 on the 20th anniversary of the band's formation with an album ''Nýdönsk & Sinfó'' in 2008 with Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands, the Icelandic Symphonic Orchestra. ''Remote Control'' (Icelandic language, Icelandic: ''Sódóma Reykjavík'' () is a 1992 Icelandic film directed by Óskar Jónasson in his feature-length directorial debut. The plot is a farce, revolving around the young car mechanic Axel and his adventure in the Reykjavík underworld which starts when his mother insists that he must recover the remote control to her TV. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival. Since it release, it has gained cult status in Iceland. ''Angels of the Universe'' (Icelandic: ''Englar alheimsins'' ()) is a 2000 Icelandic film directed and produced by Friðrik Þór Friðriksson. The leading role is played by Ingvar E. Sigurðsson, who was nominated for the European Film Awards for best acting. The story is based on Einar Már Guðmundsson's 1995 novel of the same name, a semi-fictional story about Einar's brother Pálmi Örn Guðmundsson (named Páll in the book and movie). Much of the book is true; for example, Pálmi was mentally ill and painted as a hobby. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið. In 2006 it was changed from a daily newspaper into a weekly one. Since then it has changed publishers regularly and in 2018 its publisher, DV ehf., went bankrupt.
