Bishorjan
''Bishorjan'' () is a 2017 Indian Bengali-language film written and directed by Kaushik Ganguly, produced by Opera Productions. It stars Abir Chatterjee, and Jaya Ahsan. The story revolves around a love story between a Bangladeshi Hindu widow and Indian Muslim businessman, who one day washes up on the Bangladesh side of the Ichamati river. The film was officially selected at the 2017 Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival and was released theatrically on 14 April 2017. It was a critical and commercial success. Bishorjan received six Filmfare East Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, and Best Actress, as well as Best Feature Film in Bengali at the ''64th National Film Awards.'' 3rd Filmfare Awards East
3rd Filmfare Awards East ceremony, presented by the Filmfare, Filmfare Magazine, honored the best Bengali language, Bengali language Indian films of 2017. Jaya Ahsan
Jaya Maswood (born 1 July), popularly known as Jaya Ahsan, is a Bangladeshi film actress, model, producer and playback singer. Starting her career as a model and, later, as a film actress, she works mostly in Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali films. Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival (HBFF) is a Bengali film festival in the city of Hyderabad and is being organized annually since 2014. The venue of the festival is the Prasad Film Preview Labs, Hyderabad (adjacent to L V Prasad Eye Institute). The first edition of the film festival was held in the year 2014. It is the only curated Bengali film festival in India. The festival is organized by a Hyderabad-based registered Bengali group- Bengalis in Hyderabad (popularly known as BiH). Kalika Prasad Bhattacharya
Kalika Prasad Bhattacharya (11 September 1970 – 7 March 2017) was an Indian folk singer and researcher. He was born and raised in Silchar, Assam. He went on to study comparative literature at Jadavpur University. His musical inspiration was his uncle Ananta Bhattacharya. In 1999, he co-founded the band Dohar (band), Dohar with the intent to revive the folk music tradition of Northern and Eastern Bengal. He also contributed music to a number of movies. ''Bijoya'' () is a 2019 Indian Bengali-language film directed by Kaushik Ganguly, produced by Opera Movies and presented by Suparnokanti Karati. It serves as the sequel to ''Bishorjan'' (2017) and stars Abir Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan reprising their roles from the previous film. The movie continues the ending of Bishorjon and explores the story six years later Nasir Ali first met Padma. The film was released on 4 January 2019. Plot The movie is six years after Nasir Ali met Padma and returned to India. Bijoya, the film, has a simple story line that takes forward Bishorjon's ending. ''Bisarjan'' is a 2012 Bengali drama directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay. The play is based on Rabindranath Tagore's ''Bisarjan'' (1890).
