Bishop García Diego High School (BGDHS) is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Santa Barbara, California. Established in 1959, the school is named for Bishop Francisco García Diego y Moreno, the first bishop of the Diocese of the Two Californias. History Bishop García Diego High School traces its roots to Dolores School, an all-girls Catholic high school that opened in 1914 in downtown Santa Barbara. The school was renamed Notre Dame High School in the early 1920s and became co-educational as The Santa Barbara Catholic High School in 1940. San Marcos Pass (Chumash: ''Mistaxiwax'') is a mountain pass in the Santa Ynez Mountains in southern California. It is traversed by State Route 154. The pass crosses the Santa Ynez through a southwestern portion of Los Padres National Forest, and connects Los Olivos (and the Santa Ynez Valley) with Santa Barbara, California along the Pacific coast. The road has been designated as a daylight-headlight highway by the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans because of frequent accidents, particularly around the exit for Lake Cachuma. Francisco García Diego y Moreno (17 September 1785 – 30 April 1846) was a Spanish Catholic prelate who served as the first Bishop of the Californias. Early episcopal appointments In 1801, he received the habit of Francis at the missionary College of Guadalupe de Zacatecas, made his vows the following year and was ordained a priest at Monterrey, Nuevo León, 14 Nov 1808.
