Birdbrain (band)
Birdbrain was an American post-grunge band, formed in Boston, Massachusetts, by neighborhood friends in 1992 and dissolved in 1997. They had some success with their song "Youth of America", which appeared in the 1996 film ''Scream'', as well as a contribution to the soundtrack for the 1995 film ''The Last Supper'' with a cover of Paul McCartney's " Jet". They were formed by guitarist/singer/songwriter Joey Ammo and drummer Mike Benway and signed to TVT Records in 1995. With two CD albums and two soundtrack contributions they broke up in 1997. History The Boston band was formed in the early 1990s after a chance meeting in a Roslindale, MA bar between Ammo and Benway. They rented a rehearsal studio, began funding some recording projects and started setting up bookings. Eventually they hired local manager Jeff Hudson. Hudson successfully shopped the recordings to contacts at TVT Records in 1995 with their tape "Princess", their contribution to ''Boston Rock n' Roll Anthology Vol. 1 ...

Bird Intelligence
The difficulty of defining or measuring intelligence in non-human animals makes the subject difficult to study scientifically in birds. In general, birds have relatively large brains compared to their head size. The visual and auditory senses are well developed in most species, though the tactile and olfactory senses are well realized only in a few groups. Birds communicate using visual signals as well as through the use of calls and song. The testing of intelligence in birds is therefore usually based on studying responses to sensory stimuli. The corvids (ravens, crows, jays, magpies, etc.) and psittacines ( parrots, macaws, and cockatoos) are often considered the most intelligent birds, and are among the most intelligent animals in general. Pigeons, finches, domestic fowl, and birds of prey have also been common subjects of intelligence studies. Studies Bird intelligence has been studied through several attributes and abilities. Many of these studies have been on bi ...

Bird-Brains
''Bird-Brains'' (stylized as ''BiRd-BrAiNs'') is the debut album by American lo-fi musician Merrill Garbus' project Tune-Yards. It was originally released as a Compact Cassette on Marriage Records on June 9, 2009, and was re-released on August 17 by 4AD as a limited-edition pressing. It was released worldwide on November 16, 2009, with two bonus tracks. The album was recorded almost exclusively by Garbus on a hand recorder and mixed using Audacity. Speaking to Charlotte Richardson Andrews of ''The Guardian'', she noted her instrumental limitations and how they led to a dependence on percussion: "I had no bass – literally, I didn't own one – so the drums had to be big." Critical reception ''Pitchfork'' ranked ''Bird-Brains'' at number 44 on their list of the top 50 albums of 2009. Track listing *The vinyl edition does not include the track "" and instead ends with "Fiya". References External links * * ' Tune-Yards at 4AD 4AD is a British record label o ...

Brain
The brain is an organ that serves as the center of the nervous system in all vertebrate and most invertebrate animals. It consists of nervous tissue and is typically located in the head ( cephalization), usually near organs for special senses such as vision, hearing and olfaction. Being the most specialized organ, it is responsible for receiving information from the sensory nervous system, processing those information (thought, cognition, and intelligence) and the coordination of motor control (muscle activity and endocrine system). While invertebrate brains arise from paired segmental ganglia (each of which is only responsible for the respective body segment) of the ventral nerve cord, vertebrate brains develop axially from the midline dorsal nerve cord as a vesicular enlargement at the rostral end of the neural tube, with centralized control over all body segments. All vertebrate brains can be embryonically divided into three parts: the forebrain (prosencep ...

Bird
Birds are a group of warm-blooded vertebrates constituting the class Aves (), characterised by feathers, toothless beaked jaws, the laying of hard-shelled eggs, a high metabolic rate, a four-chambered heart, and a strong yet lightweight skeleton. Birds live worldwide and range in size from the bee hummingbird to the ostrich. There are about ten thousand living species, more than half of which are passerine, or "perching" birds. Birds have whose development varies according to species; the only known groups without wings are the extinct moa and elephant birds. Wings, which are modified forelimbs, gave birds the ability to fly, although further evolution has led to the loss of flight in some birds, including ratites, penguins, and diverse endemic island species. The digestive and respiratory systems of birds are also uniquely adapted for flight. Some bird species of aquatic environments, particularly seabirds and some waterbirds, have further evolved for swimm ...

Avian Pallium
In the neuroanatomy of animals, an avian pallium is the dorsal telencephalon of a bird's brain. The subpallium is the ventral telencephalon. The pallium of avian species tends to be relatively large, comprising ~75% of the telencephalic volume. Birds have a unique pallial structure known as the hyperpallium, once called the ''hyperstriatum''. A 2002 conference at Duke University (Avian Brain Nomenclature Consortium) established a standard nomenclature for describing the avian pallium as follows: * Pallium ** pyriform cortex ** olfactory bulb ** hippocampus ** corticoid area **hyperpallium *** apicale *** intercalatum *** densocellulare ** mesopallium *** dorsale *** ventrale ** nidopallium *** field L2 *** entopallium *** basorostralis ** arcopallium ** amygdaloid complex *** posterior amygdala *** nucleus taeniae * Subpallium **striatum *** lateral ***medial ** pallidum ***globus pallidus or dorsal pallidum *** ventral pallidum Notable researchers *Stanley Cobb *Onur G ...

Stupid Person
Stupidity is a lack of intelligence, understanding, reason, or wit. It may be innate, assumed or reactive. The word ''stupid'' comes from the Latin word ''stupere''. Stupid characters are often used for comedy in fictional stories. Walter B. Pitkin called stupidity "evil", but in a more Romantic spirit William Blake and Carl Jung believed stupidity can be the mother of wisdom. Etymology The root word ''stupid'', which can serve as an adjective or noun, comes from the Latin verb ''stupere'', for being numb or astonished, and is related to ''stupor''. In Roman culture, the ''stupidus'' was the professional fall guy in the theatrical mimes. According to the online Merriam-Webster dictionary, the words "stupid" and "stupidity" entered the English language in 1541. Since then, stupidity has taken place along with "fool," " idiot," " dumb," " moron," and related concepts as a pejorative for misdeeds, whether purposeful or accidental, due to absence of mental capacity. The Radioactive Chicken Heads
The Radioactive Chicken Heads are an American virtual band formed in Orange, California in 1993. Operating anonymously under the guise of mutant chickens and vegetables, the Chicken Heads' music is primarily a mix of punk rock, heavy metal and ska punk, a blend the band advertises as "Genetically Modified Punk Rock". Originally formed under the name Joe and the Chicken Heads, the Chicken Heads first established a cult following within the Orange County punk and ska scene for their over-the-top theatrical stage shows utilizing a wide variety of props and costumed characters, all of which tie into an elaborate fictional mythology which serves as the basis for many of the band's songs and videos. Following their name change in 2004, the Chicken Heads have since focused more on multi-media projects centered on this mythology, including music videos, concept albums, YouTube skits, stage plays, a role-playing computer game and an independently produced television pilot. To date, t ...
