Big East–Big 12 Battle
The Big East–Big 12 Battle was an annual NCAA Division I men's college basketball series in which teams from the Big East Conference faced teams of the Big 12 Conference. The series was played from 2019 to 2024. The Big East–Big 12 Battle originally was planned as a four-season competition to be played annually from 2019 through 2022, but on August 1, 2022, the two conferences announced a two-year extension of the series, with games also to be played in 2023 and 2024. On April 10, 2024, Jon Rothstein of College Hoops Today reported that the Big East-Big 12 Battle would not continue past 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, the 2024–25 season. In 2019, when the Big East consisted of 10 teams, all 10 Big East teams faced one of the 10 Big 12 teams. Big East Conference
The Big East Conference (stylized as BIG EAST) is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference that competes in National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA NCAA Division I, Division I in 10 men's sports and 12 women's sports. Headquartered in New York City, the 11 full-member schools are primarily located in Northeastern United States, Northeast and Midwestern United States, Midwest metropolitan areas. The conference was officially recognized as a Division I multi-sport conference on August 1, 2013, and since then conference members have won NCAA national championships in men's basketball, women's cross country, field hockey, men's lacrosse, and men's soccer. Val Ackerman is the commissioner. The conference was formed after the "Catholic Seven" members of the Big East Conference (1979–2013), original Big East Conference elected to split from the football-playing schools in order to start a new conference focused on basketball.
