Bicton is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 890, increasing to 1,092 at the 2011 Census. The village is about three miles north-west of Shrewsbury town centre and includes part of Montford Bridge. The parish includes the small primary Bicton school. Shrewsbury and Atcham was a local government district with borough status in Shropshire, England, between 1974 and 2009. Shrewsbury was the only town in the borough; Atcham, although itself only a village, was included in the name as a reflection of the incorporation into the borough of the former Atcham Rural District. Other notable villages included Alberbury, Bayston Hill, Bomere Heath, Condover, Cressage, Cross Houses, Dorrington, Ford, Hanwood, Minsterley, Montford Bridge, Nesscliffe, Pontesbury, Uffington and Westbury. Montford Bridge is a village and bridge. The village is in Shropshire, England, UK. The bridge is in that village. It lies on the River Severn and is close to the town of Shrewsbury. Richard Jenkins (MP)
Sir Richard Jenkins (18 February 1785 – 30 December 1853) was member of parliament for Shrewsbury from 1830 to 1832 and from 1837 to 1841. He was also Chairman of the East India Company in 1839. Personal life Richard Jenkins was born at Cruckton, near Shrewsbury, the eldest son of Richard Jenkins of Bicton Hall, Shropshire. He married Elizabeth Helen, daughter of Hugh Spottiswoode, of the Honourable East India Company Civil Service, in 1824 and was the father of Colonel Richard Jenkins of the 1st Bengal Cavalry, two other sons and two daughters. Career Jenkins was at the Battle of Seetabuldee and also the capture of Nagpur. He served in the Bombay Civil Service from 1800 to 1828 and was the British Resident at Nagpur from 1807 to 1827. Sam Aiston
Samuel James Aiston (born 21 November 1976) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder and made over 200 appearances in the Premier League and the Football League, particularly for Sunderland, Chester City, Shrewsbury Town, Tranmere Rovers, Northampton Town and Wrexham. He finished his career in Non-League football and turned out for Stafford Rangers, Hednesford Town and Gainsborough Trinity. Career Aiston began his career at Newcastle United in 1994 but made no appearances for the club before joining Sunderland in 1995, where he made over 20 first-team appearances, most as substitute. Colin Bloomfield (22 February 1982 – 25 April 2015) was an English radio personality best known for his coverage of Derby County F.C. on BBC Radio Derby, as a presenter, reporter and commentator. Following his terminal prognosis for melanoma, he became an activist and fundraiser, setting up an eponymous appeal to educate children about the illness.
