Bernat Solé
Bernat Solé i Barril (born 30 January 1975) is a Spanish industrial engineer and politician from Catalonia, member of the Parliament of Catalonia and Minister of Foreign Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency of Catalonia between 2020 and 2021. He was previously mayor of Agramunt. He is currently awaiting trial on charges of disobedience for his role in the Catalan declaration of independence. Early life Solé was born on 30 January 1975 in Agramunt, Catalonia. He has a degree in industrial engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Career Solé is an industrial engineer by profession. He has worked as an engineer in the private sector and has taught technology in schools. Solé has been a member of Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) since 2006. He was communication secretary for ERC's Urgell county branch from 2006 to 2008. The Generalitat de Catalunya (; ; ), or the Government of Catalonia, is the institutional system by which Catalonia is Self-governance, self-governed as an autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of Spain. 2006 Catalan Regional Election
The 2006 Catalan regional election was held on Wednesday, 1 November 2006, to elect the 8th Parliament of the autonomous community of Catalonia. All 135 seats in the Parliament were up for election. This was a snap election, called roughly one year before the scheduled end of the legislature as a result of the uneasy and controversial drafting of the 2006 Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia, which further expanded the authority of the Catalan Government. The statutory amendment had been ratified in a referendum on 18 June 2006 after being approved in the Cortes Generales, with roughly 74% of voters in favour of the new Statute and 21% against.
