Bermondsey, Toronto
Bermondsey is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It covers a rough triangle with the Don Valley to the west, Eglinton Avenue to the northeast and O'Connor Drive to the southeast. It straddles the border of the former suburbs of East York and North York. The area is named after Bermondsey Drive that runs through the centre of the district and named after Peek Freans' head office location at Bermondsey. History As trucks replaced trains and ships as the main method for transporting goods, industries in Toronto no longer needed to be placed near to rail lines or the harbour. As a result a number of industrial areas developed in the Toronto suburbs during the 1950s and 1960s. Bermondsey was one of these, as was the Golden Mile located a short distance to the east. O'Connor–Parkview
O'Connor–Parkview is a neighbourhood in the East York area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. While the name is taken from the definition used by the city of Toronto, local residents are more familiar with the niche areas that define the larger neighbourhood. It is a very diverse neighbourhood that includes English-speakers and Greeks in the west, to the Tamil speakers in the east and Bengali and Urdu speakers in the south. It includes low-income highrises, to huge property lots. The smaller areas included inside the neighbourhood are Topham Park, Woodbine Gardens and Parkview Hills. Mill Street Brewery is a brewery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that is a part of Anheuser–Busch InBev and named after Mill Street where its first brewpub is located. The Model Railroad Club of Toronto (MRCT) is an O scale model railroad club founded in 1938 by Harry Ebert and Borden Lilley. History Originally located in founder Ebert's basement, the MRCT soon moved to new premises at Toronto's Union Station. After World War II, the railways annexed the space the Club occupied and in January 1946, the Club moved to premises in the basement of 171 East Liberty Street in what is now part of Toronto's Liberty Village neighbourhood.
