Benilde Blazers Basketball
The Benilde Blazers basketball program represents De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (CSB) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). The Benilde Blazers joined the NCAA in 1998, having been a fixture in the National Capital Region Athletic Association. The Blazers notably won its first and only NCAA title in 2000 under probation. History Beginnings at NCRAA CSB applied to join the NCAA as early as 1991; several student organizations opposed CSB's entry to the NCAA. They had participated in the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) as early as 1994. On March 1998, the NCAA announced the entry of CSB, with a probationary period of three years. The De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (; ), also known as DLS-CSB or Benilde, is a private, Catholic secondary and tertiary education institution established by the De La Salle Brothers, located in the Malate district of Manila, Philippines. It operates four campuses, all of which are located within the vicinity of Malate, Manila. The college is a member institution of De La Salle Philippines (DLSP), a network of 16 Catholic Lasallian institutions. Benilde is also a member of a 350-year-old international network of over 1,200 Lasallian educational institutions globally established by the De La Salle Christian Brothers in 82 countries. Carlos Jose "Caloy" Garcia is a Filipinos, Filipino professional basketball coach and former TV host. He is an assistant coach for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the De La Salle Green Archers basketball, De La Salle Green Archers (UAAP) Early life Caloy Garcia was born to a Spanish father who is from Malaga, Spain, Malaga and a Filipino mother. Lyceum Pirates Basketball
The Lyceum Pirates basketball program represents Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). The Lyceum Pirates previously co-founded the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA). History Run at MUCAA Leo Austria and Dante Gonzalgo played for Lyceum while it was a member of the now defunct Manila Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (MUCAA) in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
