Orange Records
Orange Records (self-identified as "''ORANGE''") is a British record label, founded in 1969 by Cliff Cooper. He had previously established Orange Amps in 1968, which gained recognition for its guitar amplifiers. Cooper was also owner of Orange Studios. In his studio prospective young artists produced demos, and the record company was born. History Cooper's record label design initially used a "Voice of the World" logo with a stylish full-colour sleeve. The first band to be signed and recorded under the label were Growth, a psychedelic influenced blues rock band well known in London. They recorded a self titled album which was not released. Orange signed a contract with a group called the Influence, which included John Miles. Janus Records
Janus Records was a record label owned by GRT Records, also known as General Recorded Tape. The label was in operation from 1969 to 1979. History Janus was founded in July 1969, as a joint venture of GRT and British label Pye Records. In its early years of operation the bulk of Janus' acts were U.S. issues of Pye product. Its first major hit was "Baby Take Me in Your Arms" by Jefferson, in late 1969. Other acts in Janus' early years included Pye artists Status Quo, Pickettywitch and Sounds Orchestral. Up to the middle 1970s, the label's president was Marv Schlachter, who later ran the ill-fated U.S. Pye label, which by 1977 had evolved into Prelude Records. Hot Wax Records was a Detroit, Michigan-based record label, created by producers/songwriters Holland–Dozier–Holland ( Eddie Holland, Lamont Dozier and Brian Holland) in 1968 when they left Motown. Chess Records was an American record company established in 1950 in Chicago, specializing in blues and rhythm and blues. It was the successor to Aristocrat Records, founded in 1947. Checker Records is a defunct record label that was started in 1952 as a subsidiary of Chess Records in Chicago, Illinois. The label was founded by the Chess brothers, Leonard and Phil, who ran the label until they sold it to General Recorded Tape (GRT) in 1969, shortly before Leonard's death. The label released recordings by mostly African American artists and groups.
