Belgian Golden Shoe
In association football, the Belgian Golden Shoe (, , German: ''Goldener Schuh'') is an award given in Belgium at the beginning of each civil year to the best footballer of the Belgian Pro League for the past year. The trophy is sponsored by the Belgian newspaper . The voters are a selection of Belgian press specialists and football personalities. They are invited to vote for the best player of the competition for both half seasons (previous season second half and current season first half) and each get to submit a top three, scoring 3, 2 and 1 point respectively. As a result, a player can receive all of his votes in one half season (e.g. if he joined the championship from abroad during summer), or he can receive votes for matches with two (or more) different teams, as with Philippe Albert in 1992 and Mbark Boussoufa in 2006. Armand Jurion
Armand Joseph Jurion (born 24 February 1937), nicknamed Jef, is a Belgian former professional footballer who played for the Belgium national team from 1955 to 1967. Jurion spent most of his club career at R.S.C. Anderlecht where he won nine championship titles and one Cup and was awarded two Golden Shoes. He played in the match Belgium-Netherlands in 1964 with ten teammates from the Anderlecht team after the substitution of goalkeeper Delhasse by Jean-Marie Trappeniers. Career "Jef" began to play at Ruisbroek, Flemish Brabant and earned an early interest by Brussels giants Union and Racing White, but he finally signed with Anderlecht. Robert Van Kerkhoven
Robert Van Kerkhoven (1 October 1924 – 18 June 2017) was a Belgian international footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Van Kerkhoven played club football for Daring Club Bruxelles. He earned a total of nine caps for Belgium between 1951 and 1956, and participated at the 1954 FIFA World Cup. Van Kerkhoven died in June 2017 at the age of 92. Victor Mees (26 January 1927 – 11 November 2012), nicknamed Vic or Vicky, was a Belgian footballer who played all of his career at Royal Antwerp. Club career Mees was born in Antwerp. He made his first team debut at the age of 17, just after World War II. Louis Aimé Carré (; 7 January 1925 – 10 June 2002) was a Belgian football player and coach. As a player, Carré played at both professional and international levels as a defensive midfielder, before becoming a coach. Career Carré played at club level for RFC de Liège between 1945 and 1959, making 416 appearances. Carré also played at international level for Belgium, earning 56 caps between 1948 and 1958, and participating at the 1954 FIFA World Cup. Josephus Antoon Louisa "Jef" Mermans (16 February 1922 in Merksem – 20 January 1996 in Wildert), nicknamed "The Bomber", was a football striker from Belgium, who played much of his career at Anderlecht, with whom he won seven Belgian Championship titles and finished top scorer of this competition three times. He played 405 games and scored 369 goals for Anderlecht, making him the club's all time topscorer. Mermans played 56 matches with the Belgium national football team, 2 of which were in the 1954 FIFA World Cup. He is also the 6th top scorer ever for the Belgium national team with 27 goals.
