Belarusian Railway (BCh) ( () / ''Biełaruskaja čyhunka'', ) is the national state-owned railway company of Belarus. It operates all of the rail transport network in Belarus. As of 2005, the railway employs 112,173 people. Overview The company, formed in 1992 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, is one of the inheritors of the Soviet Railways. It administers 5,512 km of railway with (). The railway's most important station is Minsk Terminal, the central station of the capital. BCh reports to the ministry of transport and as of 2010 was composed of 84 organizations; 46 enterprises, 38 institutions, and 7 factories/plants. Minsk Railway Station
Minsk-Pasažyrski (, ) is the main passenger railway station in Minsk, Belarus. It is located in the centre of Minsk. It is sometimes called ''Minsk Ploshchad Lenina'' due to the Ploshchad Lenina (Minsk Metro), metro station serving the terminal, or simply ''Minsk''. History The station was built in 1873 as ''Vilenski vakzal'', ''Vilnius station'' ( ). The initial wooden building was demolished in 1890 and rebuilt in stone. TE10 () is a diesel-electric locomotive from the Soviet Union. The name of this locomotive (ТЭ10) is from ''тепловоз с электрической передачей, тип 10'', which translates to "diesel-electric locomotive type 10." History In 1957–1961, the Kharkiv plant "Electrotyazhmash" and Malyshev Factory designed a new single-unit locomotive with 50% more power than a single TE3 unit and only a slightly greater mass. For servicing suburban commuter lines, electrified on 25 kV, AC, the Railcar Manufacturing Plant of Riga produced ER9, then ER9P and other modifications of electric trainsets in the 1962-2002 period. The mass production of these trains had begun in 1964. Railcar types Three types of cars were manufactured for these trains, which were motor, trailer, and cab-trailer. The DR1 (''Russian: Дизельпоезд Рижский 1'') (''English: Diesel-train Riga 1'') diesel trainset was manufactured by Rīgas Vagonbūves Rūpnīca from 1963 to 1998 with exception orders built in 2005 and 2011 for suburban commuter usage within the Soviet Union. The ČKD ČME3 is a six-axle diesel–electric locomotive built by ČKD. The class was used primarily for shunting and mainline duties.
