Beijing–Fuzhou High-speed Railway
The Beijing–Fuzhou high-speed railway () is a completed high-speed rail corridor, intended to connect Beijing and Fuzhou. Route The line shares tracks with the following railway lines: *Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway between Beijing and Bengbu *Hefei–Bengbu high-speed railway between Bengbu and Hefei *Hefei–Fuzhou high-speed railway between Hefei and Fuzhou *Fuzhou–Pingtan railway, between Fuzhou and Pingtan Island, Pingtan Thereafter, it would cross Taiwan Strait Tunnel Project, an undersea tunnel which has been proposed by the Chinese government, which would connect Pingtan and Hsinchu. It would share tracks with the Taiwan High Speed Rail from Hsinchu to Taipei. Fuzhou is the capital of Fujian, China. The city lies between the Min River (Fujian), Min River estuary to the south and the city of Ningde to the north. Together, Fuzhou and Ningde make up the Eastern Min, Mindong linguistic and cultural region. Fuzhou's population was 8,291,268 as of the 2020 Chinese census. Hefei–Bengbu high-speed railway (or the Hefei–Bengbu section of the Beijing–Taipei high-speed rail corridor) is a high-speed rail line between Hefei and Bengbu in Anhui province. It is a part of the future Jingfu line connecting Beijing and Fuzhou, Fujian. Construction started in January 2009. The railway was opened on October 16, 2012. Hefei–Fuzhou high-speed railway (), is a double track, dual-track, Railway electrification system, electrified, passenger-dedicated, high-speed rail in China, high-speed rail line between Hefei and Fuzhou, the provincial capitals of Anhui and Fujian, respectively. It has a total length of and runs through Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian province. Construction began on April 27, 2010 and the line was opened on 28 June 2015. Pingtan Island
Pingtan Island or Haitan Island is an island of Fuzhou off the east coast of mainland Asia in Pingtan County, Fujian Province, China (PRC), south of the complex estuary of the Min River. It is the largest island in Fujian and the fifth-largest island administered by the People's Republic of China. History In June 1955, there were considerable road and military constructions across the Haitan Island, including roads leading to possible artillery positions on the mainland. These positions might have been used to protect the Haitan Strait, which was thought of as a favorable staging area for further amphibious operations against the Matsu Islands, and even Taiwan. Taiwan Strait Tunnel Project
The Taiwan Strait Tunnel Project is a proposed undersea tunnel to connect Pingtan in Mainland China to Hsinchu in Taiwan as part of the G3 Beijing–Taipei Expressway. It has seen a few academic studies from the China side, but no interest from the Taiwan side, which views such proposals as propaganda. In addition to political factors, the project is generally not considered realistic due to technical and cost concerns. Hsinchu (, ), officially Hsinchu City, is a city located in northwestern Taiwan. It is the most populous city in Taiwan that is not a special municipality, with estimated 450,655 inhabitants.
