Beibei Library
The Beibei Library () is a Chongqing-based public library in China, located at No. 26 Park Village, Beibei, Chongqing. It was originally named the Gorge District Library, founded by Lu Zuofu on May 27, 1928. At its inception, it had an area of and a collection of more than four hundred books. It is the most complete collection of newspapers and magazines published during the Republic of China period in the whole of China. Beibei Library is a national first-level library and a national key unit for the protection of ancient books in China. Beibei District () is a district in the Chongqing municipality, People's Republic of China. A satellite town in the north of central Chongqing, Beibei got its name because of the huge rock that extends to the middle of Jialing River, and is known for its historical culture in the period of the Republic of China. Lu Zuofu
Lu Zuofu (, 14 April 1893 – 8 February 1952), formerly known as Lu Kuixian, was a Chinese industrialist and the founder of the Minsheng Shipping Company (currently Chongqing Minsheng Industry). He oversaw the relocation of personnel and supplies from Wuhan and Yichang to Sichuan in 1938. He was the director of National Grain Bureau of the Nationalist government as well as a representative of the First National Assembly. Early life Lu was born as Lu Kuixian in Hezhou, Chongqing Prefecture on 14 April 1893. His parents were small merchants. In 1900, Lu and his brother attended a local private school, and in the following year he transferred to Ruishan Academy. At the age of 14, he completed primary school, but was unable to pursue further formal education due to financial constraints. The national first-class, first-level or first-grade libraries (in ) are state-level libraries that have been deliberated and decided upon by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. The seventh evaluation was conducted in 2023. Second Sino-Japanese War
The Second Sino-Japanese War was fought between the Republic of China (1912–1949), Republic of China and the Empire of Japan between 1937 and 1945, following a period of war localized to Manchuria that started in 1931.
