Bedřich Golombek
Bedřich Golombek (February 5, 1901 in Hrušov (Ostrava), Hrušov, today part of Ostrava – March 31, 1961 in Brno) was a Czech people, Czech journalist and writer. Golombek was born into the family of a coal miner. He studied at a secondary school in Ostrava, and immediately afterwards (in 1919) began work for the newspaper ''Lidové noviny'', in the office in Brno. Golombek started as a reporter, since 1930 he was editor-in-chief of the Sunday edition, since 1933 editor-in-chief of the afternoon edition. After World War II he became the editor-in-chief at the main office of ''Lidové noviny'' in Prague but after Victorious February of 1948 (communist coup d'état) he was forced to leave. Later, he worked as a clerk in a factory in Brno. Hrušov ( or ''Hruszów'', ) is a part of the city of Ostrava, Moravian-Silesian Region in the Czech Republic. Hrušov is historically a market town, now administratively a part of the district of Slezská Ostrava. History It lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia, Těšín Silesia and was first mentioned in a border agreement between Władysław Opolski, the duke of Duchy of Opole and Racibórz, Opole and Racibórz and Ottokar II of Bohemia, in 1256 as ''Grusov''. It was again mentioned in a Latin document of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Wrocław, Diocese of Wrocław called ''Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis'' from around 1305 as ''Item in Grussow''. It witnessed heavy industrialization in the 19th century, coal was mined there, several factories were built, influx of migrant workers occurred. Hrušov gained market town rights in 1908.
