Beckenham, Western Australia
Beckenham is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Gosnells. History This suburb has seen many name changes. It was previously known as Buckingham, it once shared a "common usage" name of Waverley with East Cannington, and has one of the oldest and most well respected primary schools in Western Australia. The Canning River runs along the southwestern outskirts of Beckenham. In 2011 Beckenham released many new divisions of land. Perth Busport is an underground central bus station in Perth, Western Australia, located underneath Wellington Street. It was officially opened by then Premier of Western Australia Colin Barnett and then Minister for Transport Dean Nalder on 13 July 2016. Description Perth Busport is located underground, west of Perth railway station, between Wellington, Roe Street and Milligan streets. There are two bus access points, from Wellington Street and Milligan Street, and three passenger entrances, at Yagan Square, Queen Street, and King Street. The underground lounge is air-conditioned, contains 160 seats, two kiosks, and digital screens displaying updated departure information. Buses loop around the lounge, which is surrounded by double-glazed glass, and has sixteen stands grouped into four areas, each with four stands. Armadale Line
The Armadale line is a partially-closed suburban railway service in Perth, Western Australia, operated by the Public Transport Authority as part of the Transperth system. The Armadale line is long, and starts at Perth station, heading south-east of there to serve Perth's south-eastern suburbs, terminating at Armadale station. Since June 2025, the line has been closed from Beckenham Station to Armadale for the Rail Revitalisation Program and Byford extension with services operating between Perth and Cannington, as Beckanham is only being serviced by Thornlie-Cockburn Line services. The Armadale line originated from suburban services along the South Western Railway in the 1890s. Suburban services were extended over the first half of the 20th century to eventually reach Armadale station. Thornlie Railway Station
Thornlie railway station is a suburban railway station on the Transperth network. Located from Perth station, it serves the suburb of Thornlie, Western Australia. It was the original terminus of the Thornlie line, a spur of the Armadale line, before the line was extended through to Cockburn Central station along the Mandurah line via two stations, Nicholson Road station and Ranford Road station. Upon completion of the extension, the Thornlie line was renamed the Thornlie-Cockburn line. Cannington Railway Station
Cannington is a suburban railway station on the Armadale and Thornlie–Cockburn lines, serving the suburb of Cannington south of Perth, Western Australia. It is located from Perth Station, and is part of the Transperth commuter rail network. It temporarily closed on 20 November 2023 as part of the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project, and reopened on 8 June 2025. History The original Cannington station was located between Station Street and Crawford Road in East Cannington, and was one of the original stations operational when the Armadale Line opened in 1889. Nicholson Road
Nicholson Road is a major north–south road in the southeastern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, connecting Albany Highway in Cannington with the large residential areas of Thornlie and Canning Vale, before leaving the Perth urban area and terminating in Oakford. Nicholson Road is allocated State Route 31. History Nicholson Road is named after William Nicholson, who established a 1,000 acre property named "Canning Vale" in the late 19th century, a name subsequently applied to the surrounding area. Beckenham railway station is a suburban railway station on the Transperth commuter rail network in Perth, Western Australia. It is located on the Armadale and Thornlie–Cockburn lines, from Perth station serving the suburb of Beckenham. It closed on 20 November 2023 for construction works as part of the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project and reopened 8 June 2025. History The station opened in 1954 as Higham. The additional station, with two others on the Armadale line, marked the introduction of diesel-mechanical railcars on Perth's metropolitan passenger railways. Higham was renamed Beckenham in 1969. The platforms were staggered across William Street to minimise the time the level crossing is closed to road traffic. High Wycombe Railway Station, Perth
High Wycombe railway station is a Transperth commuter rail station in Perth, Western Australia. The station is the eastern terminus of the Airport line, Perth, Airport line and was one of three stations built as part of the Forrestfield–Airport Link project. The station was originally known as Forrestfield station during planning and construction. The contract for the Forrestfield–Airport Link, which consists of of twin bored tunnels and three new stations, was awarded to Salini Impregilo and NRW Holdings, NRW Pty Ltd in April 2016. High Wycombe station itself was constructed above ground, with the line entering a tunnel just north of the station. Construction began in November 2016, with works initially focussing on building the tunnel dive structure.
