Beaupre (originally Beaupré) ( ) is a surname found mostly in Canada, the United States and parts of England. In England and Wales Beaupré was a prominent family in Norfolk, who built Beaupré Hall, Outwell. Christian, daughter and coheir of Thomas de St Omer, married John, the great-great-grandson of one Synulph, who lived during the reign of King Henry II, and had issue: John ''dicte quoque Beaupré'', who lived during the reign of King Edward II, and married Katherine, daughter of Osbert Mountfort. Their son Thomas Beaupré would be raised by his grandmother Christian (last St Omer in this line) after the death of both of his parents. Thomas was knighted by King Edward III, and married Joan Holbeache, and died during the reign of King Richard II. Beaupré () is a ''ville'' in the Canadian province of Quebec, located in La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality. The town is along the St. Lawrence River and Quebec Route 138, Route 138 at the mouth of the Sainte-Anne River (Beaupré), Sainte-Anne-du-Nord River. Mont-Sainte-Anne, the highest skiing station in the eastern part of Canada, is located in Beaupré. It is also one of the town's major sport attractions. History The area has been inhabited since the beginning of the New France colony. In the 17th century, Breton people, Breton sailors, when landing on the coastal plains, reputedly exclaimed: "''Oh! le beau pré''" ("Oh! the beautiful meadow"). The fused form of Beaupré has been in use since at least 1636 when the Beaupré Company was established. Old Beaupre Castle (; also known as Beaupre Castle, Old Beaupre Manor, or simply Beaupre) is a ruined medieval fortified manor house located in the community of Llanfair, outside Cowbridge in Wales. It is known in historic documents under the names Beawpire, Bewerpere, Bewpyr and Y Bewpur. It is a Grade I listed building and is under the care of Cadw. It can be visited free of charge all year round by members of the public. The gardens are designated Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales. Wilhelmina Bay () is a bay wide between the Reclus Peninsula and Cape Anna along the west coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula. Location Wilhelmina Bay is on the Danco Coast on the west side of the Antarctic Peninsula. It indents the southeast side of Gerlache Strait opposite the Solvay Mountains of Brabant Island. The Arctowski Peninsula defines its southwest side, Forbidden Plateau its southeast side and Nansen Island is in the northeast of the bay.
