Bağıştaş 2 Dam
The Bağıştaş 1 Dam is a gravity dam on the Karasu River near İliç in Erzincan Province, eastern Turkey. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and it supports a 48.6 MW power station. Construction began in 2010 and the generators were commissioned in 2012 and 2013. The dam and power plant are owned and operated by the State Hydraulic Works. İliç
İliç (from , ''Lichk'') is a town in Erzincan Province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. It is the seat of İliç District.İlçe Belediyesi

Karasu (Euphrates)
The Karasu ( Turkish for 'black water') or Western Euphrates is a long river in eastern Turkey, one of the two sources of the Euphrates. It has a length of about 450 km. To the ancient Greeks the river was known as the (). Course The river begins at the Dumlu DaÄŸ in Erzurum Province, and drains the plains around the city of Erzurum. It is joined by the Serçeme River, then flows west through Erzincan Province, turning south, then west and receiving the tributary Tuzla Su. A gravity dam is a dam constructed from concrete or stone masonry and designed to hold back water by using only the weight of the material and its resistance against the foundation. Gravity dams are designed so that each section of the dam is stable and independent of any other dam section. Characteristics Gravity dams generally require stiff rock foundations of high bearing strength (slightly weathered to fresh), although in rare cases, they have been built on soil. Stability of the dam primarily arises from the range of normal force angles viably generated by the foundation. Also, the stiff nature of a gravity dam structure endures differential foundation settlement poorly, as it can crack the dam structure.
