Baia (; ; ) is a commune in Suceava County, in the historical region of Western Moldavia, northeastern Romania with a population of 7,261 as of 2021. It is composed of two villages, namely Baia and Bogata. Located on the Moldova (river), Moldova River, it was one of the earliest urban settlements in Moldavia. Name The Romanian ''baia'' and Hungarian ''bánya'' both mean "mine". Archeologists found traces of iron slag and coal, but only for a brief period before 14th century, before the arrival of the colonists.Rădvan, p.464 It is possible that it derives from the term ''Bania'' (from Ban (title), Ban, a political leader). "Na Baixa do Sapateiro" () is a famous Brazilian song, written by Ary Barroso. Its title comes from a street in Salvador, Bahia, where many cobblers once worked. It was originally released in 1938 as the B side to '' Salada Mista'', which did not achieve the same level of success. This first recording was sung by Carmen Miranda with Orchestra Odeon. She never released the song on disc in the United States. The song was originally going to be featured in the Carmen Miranda film '' Banana da Terra'' (1939), but was replaced with " O Que É Que A Baiana Tem?", because of the high license fee demanded by Ary Barroso to use his song. Baiae
Baiae (; ) was an ancient Roman town situated on the northwest shore of the Gulf of Naples and now in the ''comune'' of Bacoli. It was a fashionable resort for centuries in antiquity, particularly towards the end of the Roman Republic, when it was reckoned as superior to Capri, Pompeii, and Herculaneum by wealthy Romans, who built villas here from 100 BC. Ancient authors attest that many emperors built in Baia, almost in competition with their predecessors, and they and their courts often stayed there. It was notorious for its hedonistic offerings and the attendant rumours of corruption and scandal. The lower part of the town later became submerged in the sea due to local volcanic, bradyseismic activity which raised or lowered the land. Baia Sprie (; , ) is a town in Maramureș County, northern Romania. Baia Sprie is situated at a distance of from Baia Mare and belongs to the Baia Mare metropolitan area. The town administers three villages: Chiuzbaia (''Kisbánya''), Satu Nou de Sus (''Felsőújfalu''), and Tăuții de Sus (''Giródtótfalu'').
