Bayraklı District
Bayraklı is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 30 km2, and its population is 299,859 (2024). It covers the northern part of the metropolitan area of İzmir. The Provinces of Turkey, 81 provinces of Turkey are divided into 973 districts (''ilçeler''; sing. ''ilçe''). İzmir Province () is a province and metropolitan municipality of Turkey in western Anatolia, situated along the Aegean coast. Karşıyaka
Karşıyaka () is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 51 km2, and its population is 346,264 (2022). The district extends for twelve kilometres along the northern and eastern coastline of the tip of the Gulf of İzmir. Its centre is at a distance of to the north from the traditional centre of İzmir, which is Konak Square in Konak at the opposite coast. Karşıyaka's district area neighbours the district areas of Menemen to the north, Bornova to the east and Çiğli to the west. is an Arabic word variously translated as district, quarter, ward, or neighborhood in many parts of the Arab world, the Balkans, Western Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and nearby nations. Bayraklı Tunnels
Bayraklı Tunnels (), formerly Karşıyaka Tunnels, are two road tunnel, motorway tunnels in series located on the İzmir's northern beltway, motorway , in Bayraklı district between Karşıyaka and Bornova of İzmir Province, Aegean Region, western Turkey. The tunnels were built by Kutlutaş-Dillingham Construction, Dillingham Consortium, and the construction completed on 30 April 1999. However, the construction of the motorway lasted until 2007. Along with the motorway, the tunnels were opened to traffic on 19 January 2007. The official opening took place in presence of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 4 February 2007. Named initially Karşıyaka Tunnels, they were renamed later to Bayraklı Tunnels upon the request of the Bayraklı district's governor.
