Bayanda Walaza
Bayanda Walaza (born 9 February 2006) is a South African sprinter. He won silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics as part of South Africa's 4 x 100 metres relay team. Early life From Katlehong in Gauteng, he attended Monde Primary School, Hoërskool Vorentoe and received a scholarship to Curro Hazeldean High School in Pretoria. Career Walaza runs for Athletics Gauteng North. He won the SA U18 200m title and took silver in the 100m at the Athletics South Africa U18 Championships in Pietermaritzburg in January 2023. He won the bronze medal in the 100m at the 2023 African U18 and U20 Championships in Athletics, African U18 Championships in April 2023 in Zambia. He ran 10.36 seconds to win the U19 boys 100m race at the Curro Hazeldean Top 14 Athletics Meet which took place at the Pilditch Stadium, Pretoria on 28 January 2024. Track And Field
Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. Though the sense of "athletics" as a broader sport is not used in American English, outside of the United States the term ''athletics'' can either be used to mean just its track and field component or the entirety of the sport (adding road racing and cross country) based on context.
