Cirilo F. Bautista (July 9, 1941 – May 6, 2018) was a Philippines, Filipino poet, critic and writer of nonfiction. A National Artist of the Philippines award was conferred on him in 1998. Early life and education Bautista was born in Manila on July 9, 1941, and spent his childhood in Balic-Balic, Sampaloc, Manila, Sampaloc. Career Bautista taught creative writing and literature at St. Louis University (1963–1968) and the University of Santo Tomas (1969–1970) before moving to De La Salle University-Manila in 1970. Augusto "Totoy" Bautista was a Filipino basketball player who made it to six national teams within the span of 11 years. He was one of the best center-forwards in pre-war basketball. At the young age of 21, Totoy made the 1919 Far Eastern Games in Manila. For five successive FEAA Games, he made the national team: 1921 in Shanghai; 1923 in Osaka; 1925 in Manila; 1927 in Shanghai and 1930 in Tokyo.
