Battle Of Gopło
The Battle of Gopło was a battle, part of the Civil War in Poland (1093–1100), Civil War in Poland, which took place in 1096 near Gopło. It was fought between the troops of king Władysław I Herman, Władysław Herman against the inhabitants of Kruszwica led by the king's son Zbigniew. Prelude After his father's death, Władysław Herman resided in Płock, managing Masovia. Zbigniew was the first–born son of Władysław. It's assumed he was born around 1070–1073. His mother was Przecława, although her and Władysław were not married. However, this initially did not constitute any obstacle to Zbigniew's rights. The situation changed when King Bolesław the Bold, Władysław's brother, was exiled from the country. Then, unexpectedly, Władysław became the superior prince. Gopło
Gopło () is a ribbon lake in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, north-central Poland, near the city of Gniezno. It gives its name to the protected area called Gopło Landscape Park. In early Middle Ages, the shores of Lake Gopło were home to a Lechitic tribe known as the Goplans. Vratislaus II Of Bohemia
Vratislaus II (or Wratislaus II) () ( 1032 – 14 January 1092), the son of Bretislaus I of Bohemia, Bretislaus I and Judith of Schweinfurt, was the first King of Bohemia as of 15 June 1085, his royal title granted as a lifetime honorific from Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV, Holy Roman Emperor, Henry IV that did not establish a hereditary monarchy. Before his elevation to the royal dignity, Vratislaus had ruled Bohemia as duke since 1061. On his father's death in 1055, Vratislaus became duke of Olomouc, whereas his older brother became Duke of Bohemia as Spytihněv II. He fell out with his brother and was exiled to Hungary. Vratislaus regained the ducal throne of Olomouc with Hungarian assistance and eventually reconciled with his brother, then succeeded him as duke of Bohemia when he died in 1061.
