Bathgate Rovers F.C.
Bathgate Rovers Football Club was a football club from Bathgate in West Lothian, which was active between 1883 and 1893. The club was one of the more successful in the county for a decade, winning both the King Cup and the Linlithgowshire Cup in the same year, before folding into a new Bathgate club. History Durhamtown Rangers The club was formed in 1883 under the name Durhamtown Rangers by Irish workers in Bathgate, and by the end of the season its matches were being reported. In 1884–85, the club entered the first Linlithgowshire Cup (also known as the Rosebery Cup), and was knocked out of the semi-final by Mossend Swifts. Durhamtown protested on the basis that Mossend was not actually in Linlithgowshire, and, although it was proved that Mossend was indeed outside the county boundary, the Swifts were allowed to continue in the tournament. The Scottish Football Alliance was a league football structure set up in Scotland in competition with the Scottish Football League. Its success in the early years of professional football in both England and Scotland made the Alliance the basis for a second division in both countries. The Alliance attracted a number of Junior clubs to the League system, which boosted its future viability. 1891–97 Originally founded in 1891 to rival the League, the Scottish Alliance was one of a number of leagues set up a year after the Scottish Football League was formed. Slamannan () is a village in the south of the Falkirk council area in Central Scotland. It is south-west of Falkirk, east of Cumbernauld and north-east of Airdrie. Slamannan is located at the cross of the B803 and B8022 roads, near the banks of the River Avon, close to the border between Falkirk and North Lanarkshire councils. Slamannan had a population of around 1,360 residents. In 1755 the population was recorded as 1209. Broxburn (, ) is a town in West Lothian, Scotland. It is from the West End of Edinburgh, from Edinburgh Airport and to the north of Livingston. Originally a village known as Easter Strathbock in the medieval period, by 1600, the village had become known as Broxburn.
