Batavia Township is in Kane County, Illinois. It is divided by the Fox River. As of the 2010 census, its population was 35,221 and it contained 12,892 housing units. The western part of the United States Department of Energy's Fermilab is at the township's eastern edge (formerly in the village of Weston), although most of the facility is in neighboring Winfield Township in DuPage County. Geography Unlike the prototypical Midwestern township, which is a six mile by six mile square, Batavia splits such a square with Geneva Township. Aurora is a city in the Chicago metropolitan area located partially in DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. Illinois Route 25 (IL 25) is a state route in northeast Illinois. It runs north from U.S. Route 34 in Oswego to Illinois Route 62 (Algonquin Road) in Algonquin. Illinois 25 is in length. Route description Illinois Route 25 was opened in August 1929; it originally ran from Elgin to East Dundee. It was extended southward to St. Charles in 1930. The entirety of this road follows part of the Fox River on its eastern bank. Illinois Route 31 parallels Route 25 (and the river) on the western bank of the river. Illinois Route 56 (IL 56) is a east–west state highway in northern and northeastern Illinois. It runs from the interchange of Illinois Route 47 at U.S. Route 30 (US 30) in Sugar Grove east to US 12/US 20/US 45 (Mannheim Road) by Bellwood. Route description Illinois 56 parallels Interstate 88 (Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway) for its entire length and merges with it at Illinois Route 31. This state route running along a tolled freeway makes it one of only three state roads (the other being IL 110 and IL 390) to require tolls.
