Bast is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared ''as'' idol in ''Fantastic Four'' #52 (cover-dated July 1966), created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and is based on the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet. Bast is a member of the Heliopolitan and Wakandan pantheons. and the patron of the superhero Black Panther. Wakanda () is a fictional country appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Wakanda has been depicted as being in East Africa. It is located in sub-Saharan Africa, and is home to the superhero Black Panther. Wakanda first appeared in ''Fantastic Four'' #52 (July 1966), and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Wakanda has appeared in comics and various media adaptations, such as in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where it is depicted as the most technologically advanced nation on the planet. Christopher Priest (comics)
Christopher James Priest (born James Christopher Owsley, June 30, 1961) is an American writer of comic books who is at times credited simply as Priest. He changed his name legally circa 1993. He was the first black writer-editor in mainstream comics. Comics writing Priest (as Jim Owsley) entered the comics industry as a Marvel Comics intern in 1978. He joined Marvel's editorial staff in 1979, working for Paul Laiken as a managing editor on '' Crazy Magazine'' and becoming the first African American editor in mainstream comics. He next became assistant editor for Larry Hama on the '' Conan'' titles. Owsley made his professional debut as a writer in 1983 with issue No. 1 of '' The Falcon'' miniseries and was made full editor of the '' Spider-Man'' comic books from 1985 to 1986. Denys B. Cowan (born January 30, 1961) is an American comics artist, television producer, media executive and one of the co-founders of Milestone Media. Early life Denys Cowan was first inspired by superheroes as a child from reruns of the 1950s TV show '' Adventures of Superman'' with George Reeves. He did not yet know what a comic book was, and would not learn about them until the third grade.
