Bartłomiej Kowalski
Bartłomiej Kowalski (born 4 March 2002) is an international motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. Career Kowalski came to prominence in 2022, when he was part of the Polish team that won the Team Junior European Championship. Previously he had ridden for Wanda Kraków in 2018 and Włókniarz Częstochowa from 2020 until 2021. In 2022, he joined Wrocław. In 2023, he joined Indianerna for the 2023 Swedish speedway season. In August 2023, he won his first Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship, winning the 2023 Speedway of Nations 2, in addition to winning a second U23 European team title. His 2023 season was capped off in fine style following success in winning the Silver Helmet and Polish Junior Championship, during the 2023 Polish speedway season. He won a third successive gold medal at the 2024 European Under 23 Team Speedway Championship. Kraków Speedway
Kraków Speedway was the Polish motorcycle speedway teams based in Kraków. History 1956 to 1965 In 1956, the first club to be registered in Kraków was Auto Mobil Klub Nowa Huta (AMK Nowa Huta). The team competed in the second league during the 1956 Polish speedway season. The following season AMK Kraków (as they were called for that season) competed in the third league south group during 1957. The stadium in Nowa Huta (Odmogile Street) was constructed in 1957 and at the end of the 1957 season the AMK club was dissolved but two teams were created by the names of Cracovia Kraków and Wanda Nowa Huta. Cracovia Kraków moved to a track in Borek Fałęcki and competed in the third league in 1958, they would compete until the end of 1960 when they were dissolved due to high costs. Meanwhile, Wanda Nowa Huta gained promotion to the second division in 1958 and then won the second division (East) in 1960. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . 2023 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2023 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 29th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 78th FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the second series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. Bartosz Zmarzlik was the defending champion, having won the 2022 title. Zmarzlik successfully retained the title, winning a fourth championship, despite being disqualified from round nine in Denmark. He beat Fredrik Lindgren by eight points, with Martin Vaculík securing the bronze medal. During the championships, Zmarzlik secured four Grand Prix wins after the Latvian Grand Prix, which equalled the 22 career Grand Prix wins of fellow Pole Tomasz Gollob. 2021 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2021 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 27th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and decided the 76th FIM Speedway World Championship. The calendar of events was disrupted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the series was dominated by Polish venues once again, with six of the 11 races taking place in Poland. Great Britain and Germany did not hold an event, however Russia was added to the calendar for the first time. In 2020, six of the eight races had been held in Poland. Artem Laguta won his first world title. Laguta overtook defending champion Bartosz Zmarzlik in the points standings in round 10, which proved to be the pivotal moment of the championship. 2024 European Under 23 Team Speedway Championship
The 2024 European Under 23 Team Speedway Championship is the 17th Team Speedway Junior European Championship season. It was organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and was the fourth time that the event had an age limit of under 23 years of age. The qualifying round was held at the Svítkov Stadium in Pardubice on 20 April. The Czech Republic won the qualifier with 50 points, Great Britain (35), France (20) and Germany (14) were all eliminated. The final took place in Poland for the sixth time since 2008, on 24 August 2023 at the Kraków Speedway Stadium and was won by Poland again. The 2023 Polish Speedway season was the 2023 season of motorcycle speedway in Poland. The season ran from 8 April to 8 October. Team Speedway Junior European Championship
The European Under-23 Team Speedway Championship, formerly known as the ''Team Speedway Junior European Championship'' is an annual motorcycle speedway event. Inaugurated as a European Under-19 competition, the competition age limits have twice been amended. Since 2021, the event has been staged as the European Under-23 Team Championship. The inaugural 2008 edition was staged at the Florian Kapała Stadium in Rawicz, Poland, and won by the Sweden national under-19 speedway team, Swedish team. The next two editions were won by the Poland national under-19 speedway team.
