Adrien Barrère
Adrien Barrère (baptised 'Adrien Baneux') (1874 Paris – 1931 Paris), was a French poster artist and painter, active in Paris during the Belle Époque. After studying the law and medicine, Barrère turned to illustrating and particularly to the art of caricature A caricature is a rendered image showing the features of its subject in a simplified or exaggerated way through sketching, pencil strokes, or other artistic drawings (compare to: cartoon). Caricatures can be either insulting or complimentary, ..., also designing a large number of posters for Parisian cinemas and Grand Guignol. His poster with caricatures of the Paris Medical Faculty, the original of which is held at University of Rouen and twice the size (72 x 116 cm; 28¼" x 45¾") of later copies, was immensely popular - no medical student left without a copy - and 420 000 copies were printed. Camille Barrère
Camille Barrère (23 October 1851 – 7 October 1940) was a French diplomat, most notably the ambassador to Italy from 1897 to 1924. In 1902, Barrère negotiated a secret accord with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Giulio Prinetti that ended both countries' historical rivalry for North Africa. The Prinetti-Barrère Accord stated that in the event of a redistribution of Ottoman lands in Northern Africa, France would not contest an Italian claim on the lands of the Tripolitania Vilayet, which makes up modern Libya. In return, Italy would not contest a French claim on the Ottoman territory of Morocco. The agreement allowed for the French Agadir Crisis in Morocco in 1911 and the Italo-Turkish War of 1911–1912, which resulted in the taking of both territories. Granville Barrere
Granville Barrere (July 11, 1829 – January 13, 1889) was a U.S. Representative from Illinois, nephew of Nelson Barrere. Born in New Market, near Hillsboro, Ohio, Barrere attended the common schools and Augusta College, Augusta, Kentucky, and graduated from Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in Chillicothe, Ohio, in 1853 and commenced practice in Marion, Arkansas. He moved to Bloomington, Illinois, in 1855, and then to Canton, Illinois, the same year, and continued the practice of his profession. He served as member of the city board of education. He served as member of the board of supervisors of Canton. Barrere was elected as a Republican to the Forty-third Congress (March 4, 1873–March 3, 1875). Nelson Barrere (April 1, 1808 – August 20, 1883) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio, uncle of Granville Barrere. Born in New Market, near Hillsboro, Ohio, Barrere attended the common schools, and Hillsboro High School in 1827. He was graduated from Augusta (Kentucky) College in 1830. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1833 and commenced practice in Hillsboro. He moved to West Union, Ohio, in 1834 and continued the practice of law. In 1846 returned to Hillsboro, where he resided until his death. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1837 and 1838. Barrere was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress (March 4, 1851 – March 3, 1853). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1852 to the Thirty-third Congress. He resumed the practice of law. He died in Hillsboro, Ohio, August 20, 1883. Pierre Barrère (1690, Perpignan – 1 November 1755, Perpignan) was a French physician and naturalist. Barrère practised in Perpignan from 1717. His thesis on medical botany brought him into contact with Antoine de Jussieu who helped him become a naval surgeon. In 1722, he voyaged to Cayenne where he stayed for five years. Back in Perpignan, he became professor of botany at the university and doctor in the military hospital. The plant genus ''Barreria'' was named after him but it is now a synonym of '' Brunia''.
