Baranagar (Bengali language, Bengali: বরানগর) is a city and a municipality in the Kolkata Metropolitan Area of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian States and territories of India, state of West Bengal. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). It is home to the Indian Statistical Institute, an institution of national importance devoted to the research, teaching and application of statistics, natural sciences and social sciences. Baranagore Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama High School (H.S.) (BRKMAHS) is a senior secondary boys' school in Baranagar, Kolkata, India and a branch centre of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. The school was founded in 1912, and is located at the northern outskirt of Kolkata, on the banks of the river Ganga. Baranagar Municipality is the civic body that governs Baranagar and its surrounding areas (Deshapriya Nagar, Bonhooghly, Sadhan Pally, Noapara, Palpara, Dunlop and Alambazar) in Barrackpore subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, India. Baranagar, also known as JSW Baranagar is an elevated metro station on the Blue Line of Kolkata Metro which is off Barrackpore Trunk Road at Dunlop of Baranagar in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Presently, this metro station is the tallest metro station of Kolkata (approximately 55 feet). The metro station adjoins the platforms of the Baranagar Road railway station where connections can be made with Indian Railways services. The station was inaugurated on 22 February 2021. Noapara is the largest elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Blue Line of Kolkata Metro in Noapara, Baranagar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It opened on 10 July 2013.
