Celina, Tennessee
Celina is a city in and the county seat of Clay County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,495 at the 2010 census. History Celina was founded in the 19th century and named after the daughter of local pioneer entrepreneur and educator, Moses Fisk. In the late 19th century, Celina prospered as a logging town, receiving logs that had been cut in the forests to the east and floated down the Obey River. In 1878, African Americans were violently driven out of Celina. Geography Celina is located near the center of Clay County at (36.548379, -85.501980). The city is situated in a relatively broad valley surrounded by rugged hills characteristic of the eastern Highland Rim. Standing Stone State Forest
Standing Stone State Park is a state park in Overton County, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The park consists of along the shoreline of the man-made Standing Stone Lake. The Standing Stone State Forest surrounds the park. The park and forest were developed in the 1930s as part of New Deal-era initiatives to relocate impoverished farmers and restore forests from degraded and heavily eroded lands. The park was named after the Standing Stone, a mysterious rock believed to be of Native American origin or importance that once stood along the old Walton Road at what is now Monterey. The park offers canoeing, camping, lodging, hiking and many other activities. State Route 292 (SR 292), also known as Baptist Ridge Road, is a east-west state highway in northeastern Middle Tennessee. Route description SR 292 begins in Clay County at an intersection with SR 53 at Butlers Landing along the banks of the Cumberland River. It winds its way east through mountains to pass through Baptist Ridge and the southern sliver of Standing Stone State Forest before crossing into Overton County. The highway straightens out as it turns southeast through flatter terrain for several miles before entering Hilham and coming to an end at a Y-intersection with SR 136.
