Banque D'Anvers
The Banque d'Anvers () was a Belgian based bank that acted as the affiliate of the Société Générale de Belgique in Antwerp. It started activity as a branch in 1823, became a fully-fledged bank in 1827, and was eventually merged into the Générale de Banque in 1965. In the 1920s, it was described as one of the most powerful banks in Belgium. Banque Liégeoise
The Banque Liégeoise, full original name Banque liégeoise et Caisse d'Épargnes (), was a bank in Liège, Belgium. It was founded in 1835 and was initially among the note-issuing banks in the recently established country, together with the Société Générale de Belgique, the Banque de Belgique, and the Bank of Flanders in Ghent. It waived its banknote issuance privilege in 1875 in favor of the National Bank of Belgium. By 1921 the Banque Liégeoise had foreign investments in Greece, Italy, and Spain. The Banque Italo-Belge () was a Belgian bank established in 1911 on the initiative of the Société Générale de Belgique (SGB) jointly with Credito Italiano and other partners. Despite its name, it operated mainly in South America. It was known as the Banque Brésilienne Italo-Belge before 1913, and Banque Européenne pour l'Amérique Latine (BEAL) after 1974. Petrofina was a Belgium, Belgian oil company. It merged with Total S.A., Total in 1999 to form TotalFina, which after subsequent mergers has changed its name back to Total. Hector Carlier
Hector Carlier (1884 – 1 January 1946 in Kalmthout) was a Belgian banker and industrialist who was the son of banker Jean Baptist Ferdinand Carlier and Marie de Roy. He was married with Amelia Goossens and together they had three children. He is one of the founders of the Belgian oil company Petrofina. Petrofina merged with Total of France to form ''TotalFina'' and with Elf Aquitaine in 2000 to form ''TotalFinaElf''. The company's current name is Total S.A. Career Hector Carlier started his career at the Banque d'Anvers which his father partly owned, together with the Société Générale de Belgique. On 25 February 1920, he founded the oil company ''Compagnie Financière Belge des Pétroles'', together with his brother Fernand and the Roman Catholic minister Aloys Van de Vyvere. Meir, Antwerp
Meir is the main shopping street in Antwerp, Belgium. It is the most important shopping area in the country, both by number of shoppers and by rent prices. The street has been mostly pedestrianised since 1993 and is said to be the Belgian equivalent to New York's 5th Avenue. In the centre of Antwerp, Meir connects the Antwerp City Hall with the trains at Antwerp Central Station. Between 2002 and 2004, it was the most expensive shopping street in the Benelux.
