Bengaluru City Railway Station, officially Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Bengaluru Station , also known as Bangalore City Railway Station, KSR Bengaluru Station, or Majestic Railway station (station code: SBC), is the main railway station of Bengaluru, serving the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It is the first busiest railway station in South Western Railway zone of Indian Railways, and is the only station classified under Categorization of Indian Railway stations by commercial importance, NSG1 category in the zone. It is located across the Kempegowda Bus Station. The station has 10 platforms and three entrances. Lewin Bentham Bowring
Lewin Bentham Bowring (1824–1910) was a British Indian civil servant in British India who served as the Chief Commissioner of Mysore between 1862 and 1870. He was also an author and man of letters. Early life Bowring was born in 1824. He was the second son of Sir John Bowring (1792-1872), of Exeter, Devon, Governor of Hong Kong, and was a brother of John Charles Bowring and Edgar Alfred Bowring. He was educated at Mount Radford School. Career Bowring joined the Bengal Civil Service in 1843. He became Assistant Resident at Lahore in 1847, and later joined the Punjab commission. From 1858 to 1862, he was private secretary to the Viceroy of India, Lord Canning. Bowring served as Chief Commissioner of Mysore from 1862 to 1870. Lieutenant-General (United Kingdom), Lieutenant-General Sir Mark Cubbon Order of the Bath, KCB (23 August 1775 – 23 April 1861) was a United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, British army officer with the Honourable East India Company, East India Company who was the Mysore Commission, Chief Commissioner of Mysore 1834 to 1861. During his tenure, he established a Law and order (politics), law and order system, introduced judicial and economic reforms and through action in all spheres of governance helped develop the economy of Mysore. He resigned from his office in 1860 due to ill-health and left for England for the first time since his arrival in India as a cadet in 1800. Indian Railways classifies its railway stations based on commercial and strategic importance under various categories in order to ascertain, plan and provide minimum essential amenities for passengers using them. While the primary criteria for determining the importance of a station was purely based on the station revenue and earnings, it was changed in December 2017 to better cover stations with high footfalls and strategic importance as well.
