Bandodkar Trophy
The Bandodkar Trophy, currently known as the Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy, is an Indian football tournament held in Goa and organized by the Goa Football Association. It was also known as the Bandodkar Gold Trophy till the 2016 edition, when the tournament was revamped in a new format. The tournament was first played in 1970. History The Bandodkar Gold Trophy was the first major cup tournament hosted by the GFA, aided by the then Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar who donated the trophy. Apart from some top clubs from Goa, clubs from other Indian states and abroad, also have participated in this competition. Dempo SC has won the tournament for a record eight times, — while Salgaocar FC won the last major edition held in 1992. In 2016, the historic tournament was revived as an invitational u-21 Men's football tournament and was held at Duler Stadium in Goa. Goa Football Association
The Goa Football Association ( GFA) is the governing body of association football, football in Goa. It is affiliated with the All India Football Federation, the national governing body. It sends state teams for Santosh Trophy and Senior Women's National Football Championship. Caitano Fernandes heads GFA as its current president. The GFA's premier competition is the Goa Professional League. History The Goa Football Association () was founded on 22 December 1959. The federation conducted its first Goan State League in 1959 also under the name of ''Goa Primeira Divisão'' or ''Goa First Division'' with Clube Independente de Margao becoming the champions. The GFA then started the Goa Senior League in 1969, which was supposed to be the new first division of Goa, but later disbanded the league. Clube de Desportos Vasco da Gama (simply known as both Vasco Sports Club, and Vasco SC) is an Indian professional football club based in Vasco da Gama, Goa, part of the same named multi-sports club. Incorporated in 1951, the club is nicknamed "The Port Towners", and competes in the Goa Professional League. Vasco is the first Goan club run under public shareholding. It previously competed in the National Football League, then highest division of Indian football league system. The club also appeared in the I-League 2nd Division in later years.
