History Balıkesirspor was founded on 6 June 1966 and started to compete in Turkish Second Football League in 1967–68 season. On 20 August 1967, it played its first competitive match against Malatyaspor and won 3–1. Kadir Gürsoy scored the first goal of the club in that match. The club won its first title in 1974–75 season under the management of Rıdvan Kösemihal and promoted to Turkish First Football League, the top level of Turkish Football. Balıkesir Atatürk Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Balıkesir, Turkey. The stadium holds 15,800 all-seater and was built in 1973 and re-built in 2010. It abides UEFA standards for TFF standards for hosting TFF Second League, TFF First League and also Super Lig games. Turkish Regional Amateur League
The Turkish Regional Amateur League () is the fifth tier of the Turkish football league system. The tier comprises a number (usually 10-13, varies by season) of groups across Turkey, each consisting of teams grouped according to the regions in which they are based. Every season, 12 teams are promoted to the TFF Third League while the bottom two teams of each group are relegated to the Super Amateur Leagues of their respective provinces. League status The league contains 153 teams which participate in 10 groups: 2 of these groups contain 14 teams, 4 of these groups contain 15 teams, 3 of these groups contain 16 teams and one group contains 17 teams.
