Balta Albă is a commune in Buzău County, Muntenia, Romania. It is composed of four villages: Amara, Balta Albă, Băile, and Stăvărăști. Situated in the Bărăgan Plain, at an altitude of , the commune lies on the banks of the river Bold, which flows towards nearby Lake Balta Albă. It is located at the eastern edge of Buzău County, southeast of the city of Râmnicu Sărat and northeast of the county seat, Buzău, on the border with Brăila County. Bărăgan Plain
The Bărăgan Plain ( ) is a steppe plain in south-eastern Romania. It makes up much of the eastern part of the Wallachian Plain. The region is known for its black soil and a rich humus, and is mostly a cereal-growing area. It is bounded on the south and east by the Danube, and in the North by the Buzău (river), Buzău and Călmățui (Brăila), Călmățui rivers, both tributaries of the Danube. The western limit is a line joining the cities of Buzău, Urziceni, Budești, and Oltenița. The plain practically covers Ialomița County, Ialomița and Călărași County, Călărași counties, extending into the southern portion of Buzău County, Buzău and Brăila County, Brăila counties. Râmnicu Sărat
Râmnicu Sărat (also spelled ''Rîmnicu Sărat'', , or ''Rebnick''; ) is a municipiu, city in Buzău County, Romania, in the historical region of Muntenia. It was first attested in a document of 1439, and raised to the rank of ''municipiu'' in 1994. The city rises from a marshy plain, east of the Carpathian Mountains, and west of the cornlands of southern Moldavia. It lies on the left bank of the river Râmnicul Sărat. Buzău (; formerly spelled ''Buzeu'' or ''Buzĕu'') is a city in the historical region of Muntenia, Romania, and the county seat of Buzău County.
