Bajo Aragón-Caspe
Bajo Aragón-Caspe () or Baix Aragó-Casp () is a comarca in eastern Aragon, bordering the Spanish Autonomous Community of Catalonia. It borders the Aragonese comarques of Matarranya, Monegros, Bajo Cinca, Bajo Martín and Ribera Baja del Ebro, and the Catalan comarques of Terra Alta, Baix Ebre, and Ribera d'Ebre. This comarca is named after the town of Caspe, its capital. Its main income is derived from the production of olive oil. Bajo Martín
Bajo Martín is a Comarcas of Aragon, comarca in Aragon. It is part of the historical region of Lower Aragon. It is located in Teruel Province, in the transitional area between the Sistema Ibérico, Iberian System and the Ebro Valley. It borders the Aragonese comarcas of Ribera Baja del Ebro, Campo de Belchite, Cuencas Mineras, Andorra-Sierra de Arcos, Bajo Aragón and Bajo Aragón-Caspe/Baix Aragó-Casp, Bajo Aragón-Caspe. The Bajo Martín is named after the Martín River, a right-side tributary of the Ebro that flows across the comarca. Neglect This comarca was formerly connected with Tortosa by means of a railway line from La Puebla de Híjar. Known as "Ferrocarril del Val de Zafán", the line stretched to Alcañiz and Tortosa. Lower Aragon
Lower Aragon (, , ), also known as ''Tierra Baja'', is a natural and historical region in Aragon, Spain. The name "Lower Aragon" refers to the areas of the lowest altitude within the Ebro river basin, but the historical region encompasses only the river basins of several right tributaries of the Ebro River, namely the Matarranya, Guadalope, Regallo, Martín and Aguas, located between the Ebro and the Iberian mountain range. Maella (; ) is a municipality located in the province of Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2015 census ( INE), the municipality has a population of 1,953 inhabitants. This town is located in La Franja; the local dialect is a variant of Catalan. History The Battle of Maella took place here in 1838. Fayón () or Faió () is a municipality located in the province of Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2004 census ( INE), the municipality has a population of 395 inhabitants. This town is located between the Ebro and the Matarranya rivers in La Franja area; the local dialect is a variant of Catalan. History Historically this town and its municipal term were considered part of the Matarraña, but presently it is included in the Bajo Aragón-Caspe comarca. During the Battle of the Ebro some of the most bloody battles in the Spanish Civil War were fought in the Auts area, about 8 km north of Fayón. On 25 July 1938 the 42 division of the Spanish Republican Army successfully crossed the river in this area but was surrounded and massacred in the Auts hills by the rebels.
