2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup
The 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, the 18th edition of FIBA's premier international tournament for women's national basketball teams, was held in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain from 22 to 30 September 2018. This was the first edition to use the name of ''FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup''. After the last edition in 2014, FIBA changed the name of the competition from the ''FIBA World Championship for Women'', in order to align its name with that of the corresponding men's competition. The United States were the two-time defending champions. This tournament saw the World Cup debut of Belgium, Latvia and Puerto Rico. The Latvia women's national basketball team is the national women's basketball team representing Latvia. It is administered by the Latvian Basketball Association. It has participated in EuroBasket Women three times and once in the Olympic Games. TTT Rīga is a professional women's basketball club based in Riga, Latvia. "TTT" means Tram and Trolley Trust. The team held its first official game on 5 November 1958. The next 25 years are known as the ''First Golden age'' of the club. Internationally, the club was also known as Daugava Riga, because Daugava was the predecessor of TTT Riga in the 1950s.
