Bahrain Royal Guard
The Royal Guard () of Bahrain is a unit of the Bahrain Defence Force. In June 2011, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa appointed his 36-year-old son Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa as the commander of the Royal Guard. Opposition political leader Ali Salman claimed in 2009 that "no Shi'ites have been recruited to work in the Royal Guard even though they make up over half of the population." National Guard (Bahrain)
The National Guard of Bahrain () is separate military force from the Bahrain Defence Force. The National Guard is charged with internal security and assisting the Bahrain Defence Force in defending against external threats. It was established in 1997, through a royal decree by then Emir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The National Guard is commanded by General Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, brother of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. It consists of about 3,000 personnel. Ali Salman
Ali Salman Ahmed Salman () is a Bahraini Twelver Shi'ism, Twelver Shia Islam, Shi'a cleric and the Secretary-General of the Al Wefaq, Al-Wefaq political society. In January 1995, the Cabinet of Bahrain, Bahraini government forcibly exiled him to Dubai for leading a popular campaign demanding the reinstatement of the Constitution of Bahrain, constitution and the restoration of parliament during the 1990s uprising in Bahrain, 1990s Uprising. Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa (born 28 January 1950) is King of Bahrain since 1999. He is a member of the ruling Al Khalifa dynasty. Early life and education Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa was born on 28 January 1950 in Riffa, Bahrain. His parents were Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, then Crown Prince, and Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa. After attending Manama secondary school in Bahrain, Hamad was sent to England to attend Applegarth College in Godalming, Surrey before taking a place at The Leys School in Cambridge. Hamad then underwent military training, first with the British Army at Mons Officer Cadet School at Aldershot in Hampshire, graduating in September 1968.
