Bagnell Dam
Bagnell Dam (informally, the Osage Dam) impounds the Osage River in the U.S. state of Missouri, creating the Lake of the Ozarks. The dam is located in the city of Lakeside, Missouri, Lakeside in Miller County, Missouri, Miller County, near the Camden-Miller County line. The tall concrete gravity dam was built by the Union Electric Company (now Ameren) to generate hydroelectric power at its Osage Powerplant. Lakeside, Missouri
Lakeside is an inactive city in Miller County, Missouri, United States, located along the Osage River near the Bagnell Dam. The population was 37 at the 2000 census. However, as of the 2020 census, the city's population was 0, with only one housing unit. History The city had developed at the time of construction of the Bagnell Dam and power plant, and many workers lived here. Few people were needed as residents to administer the complex, but the Union Electric Administration Building-Lakeside was built in association with the dam project. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. A boundary increase for the property was recorded as an addition in 2011. Floodgate
Floodgates, also called stop gates, are adjustable gates used to control water flow in flood barriers, reservoir, river, stream, or levee systems. They may be designed to set spillway crest heights in dams, to adjust flow rates in sluices and canals, or they may be designed to stop water flow entirely as part of a levee or storm surge system. Union Electric Administration Building-Lakeside, also known as Willmore Lodge and Egan Lodge, is a historic administration building and retreat overlooking Lake of the Ozarks and located near Lakeside, Miller County, Missouri. It was built in 1930 by Union Electric Company during the Bagnell Dam project. It is a one- to two-story, V-shaped Adirondack rustic style log building.
