''Backyard Sports'' (originally branded as ''Junior Sports'' and then ''Humongous Sports'') is a video game series released for consoles, computers, and mobile devices created by Humongous Entertainment. The series is best known for starring a diverse cast of fictional children as well as child versions of famous professional sports athletes, such as Albert Pujols, Paul Pierce, Barry Bonds, Tim Duncan, Clint Mathis, Kevin Garnett, Tom Brady, David Ortiz, Joe Thornton, and Andy Macdonald. Humongous Entertainment
Humongous, Inc. (formerly Humongous Entertainment, Inc.) was an American video game developer based in Bothell, Washington. Founded in 1992, the company developed multiple edutainment franchises, most prominently ''Putt-Putt (series), Putt-Putt'', ''Freddi Fish'', ''Pajama Sam'', ''Spy Fox'', and ''Backyard Sports'', which, combined, sold over 15 million copies and earned more than 400 awards of excellence. Humongous Entertainment was acquired by GT Interactive (later renamed Infogrames, Inc., then Atari, Inc.) in July 1996. By October 2000, sales of Humongous games had surpassed 16 million copies. GT, which had by that point became Atari, Inc. sold the Humongous business to its parent company, Infogrames (later renamed Atari SA), in August 2005 and reduced the company solely as a management firm for their assets until its bankruptcy in 2013, in which the assets were sold to Tommo, who re-released some of its games on digital distribution channels using the Humongous name. ''Backyard Soccer'', known in Europe as ''Backyard Football'' (PC) or ''Junior Sports Football'' (PlayStation) and in Australia as ''Junior Sports Soccer'', is a children's association football video game developed and published by Humongous Entertainment; Infogrames published the PlayStation version. It is the second game in the '' Backyard Sports'' series, following '' Backyard Baseball''. It was first released on September 26, 1998, for Macintosh and Microsoft Windows, in 2001 for the PlayStation, and in 2008 for iOS. The PC and PlayStation versions of the game, alongside the PlayStation 2 version of '' Backyard Basketball'', were the only ''Backyard Sports'' titles released in Europe. Andy Macdonald (born July 31, 1973) is an American professional skateboarder. As of September 2013, he holds the record for the most X Games medals in vert skateboarding and won the World Cup Skateboarding competition eight times.
