BYU Cougars Men's Golf
The BYU Cougars men's golf team represents the Brigham Young University in the sport of golf. The Cougars compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Big 12 Conference. They play their home matches on the Riverside Country Club Golf Course, and are currently led by head coach Bruce Brockbank. The Cougars men's golf program has won 26 conference championships: 21 Western Athletic Conference, two Mountain West Conference, and three West Coast Conference. Brigham Young University
Brigham Young University (BYU, sometimes referred to colloquially as The Y) is a private research university in Provo, Utah. It was founded in 1875 by religious leader Brigham Young and is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). BYU offers a variety of academic programs including those in the liberal arts, engineering, agriculture, management, physical and mathematical sciences, nursing, and law. It has 186 undergraduate majors, 64 master's programs, and 26 doctoral programs. Johnny Miller
John Laurence Miller (born April 29, 1947) is an American former professional golfer. He was one of the top players in the world during the mid-1970s. He was the first to shoot 63 in a major championship to win the 1973 U.S. Open, and he ranked second in the world on Mark McCormack's world golf rankings in both 1974 and 1975 behind Jack Nicklaus. Miller won 25 PGA Tour events, including two majors. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1998. He was the lead golf analyst for NBC Sports, a position he held from January 1990 to February 2019. He is also an active golf course architect. Haskins Award
The Haskins Award is presented annually by the Haskins Commission to honor the most outstanding collegiate golfer in the United States. The award is named in memory of Fred Haskins, former golf teaching professional at the Country Club of Columbus (Georgia). Votes are tabulated by the Haskins Commission from select writers A writer is a person who uses written words in different writing styles and techniques to communicate ideas. Zac Blair
Zac Blair (born August 20, 1990) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour He has played on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Early life and amateur career Blair was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was on the Brigham Young University's golf team from 2009 to 2013. He was an All-American in 2012 and won four college events. His father, James, played golf at Brigham Young University from 1974 to 1977. Blair also won the 2011 Pacific Northwest Amateur. Daniel Summerhays
Daniel Summerhays (born December 2, 1983) is an American professional golfer. His brother Boyd Summerhays played on the Canadian Tour as well as the PGA Tour, and is currently the coach of the PGA Tour's Tony Finau. He is the nephew of Champions Tour player Bruce Summerhays and cousin of former LPGA Tour golfer Carrie Roberts and her brothers Joe Summerhays and Bruce Summerhays Jr., who are both PGA Club Professionals. In June 2020, Summerhays announced that he was ending his professional golf play, to teach and be the golf coach at Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, from which he had graduated. Óscar David Álvarez
Óscar David Álvarez Ortega (born 29 March 1983) is a Colombian professional golfer who currently plays on PGA Tour Latinoamérica. Amateur career Early in his career, Álvarez was named Colombia's Amateur Golfer of the Year in 2000. Mike Weir
Michael Richard Weir, (born May 12, 1970) is a Canadian professional golfer. He currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He spent over 110 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking between 2001 and 2005. He plays golf left-handed and is best known for winning the Masters Tournament in 2003, making him the only Canadian man to ever win a major. Brent Franklin
Brent Franklin (born December 16, 1965) is a former Canadian professional golfer. Early life Franklin was born in Barrie, Ontario. He was coached in golf by Jack McLaughlin as a youth, and first came to prominence when he won the 1981 Vancouver City Match Play Championship as a 15-year-old amateur, to become the youngest champion ever in that event. Rick Gibson (born October 27, 1961) is a Canadian professional golfer who plays primarily in Asia. Early life Gibson was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He played college golf at Brigham Young University, where he was an All-American in 1984. Professional career Gibson played on the Canadian Tour after turning professional in 1984. Keith Clearwater
Keith Allen Clearwater (born September 1, 1959) is an American professional golfer who has won two tournaments on the PGA Tour. Clearwater was born in Long Beach, California. He went to Northgate High School (Walnut Creek, California) and was one of many Californians to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and play on the school's golf team. In 1981, his junior year, he helped lead BYU to the 1981 NCAA Championship, and was named as a first team All-American. During his tenure at BYU, his teammates included future professional golfers Rick Fehr, Richard Zokol and Bobby Clampett. In his senior year, 1982, he was named as a second team All-American. Richard Zokol
Richard Francis "Dick" Zokol (born August 21, 1958) is a Canadian professional golfer who has played on the Canadian Tour, PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour, winning at least one event in each venue. Amateur career Zokol was born in Kitimat, British Columbia. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and was the captain of the 1981 NCAA championship golf team. Pat McGowan
Patrick Ray McGowan (born November 27, 1954) is an American professional golf instructor and former PGA Tour player. McGowan was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended Brigham Young University. He played on the golf team with fellow PGA Tour player Mike Reid and graduated in 1977. McGowan developed his game under the tutelage of Warren McCarty, head pro at Colusa Golf and Country Club, and Karl Tucker, golf coach at Brigham Young University.
