BBC Multimedia was a division of the BBC which dealt with the publishing of computer-game versions of well-known BBC television programmes. History The Multimedia division was founded in 1995 and mostly focused on CD-ROM software for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh. The company attended E3 2002 by announcing its first game for the Xbox, '' Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction'', set for a November 2002 release, as well as a game adaptation of the CBBC series ''Ace Lightning'' for the PlayStation 2, with both games also on Microsoft Windows and Game Boy Advance. Other CD-ROM games announced this time were ''Bob the Builder: Bob Builds a Park'', set for a July 2002 release and ''Tweenies: Messy Time'', set for an October 2002 release. Broadcasting House
London Broadcasting House is the headquarters of the BBC, in Portland Place and Langham Place, London. The first radio broadcast from the building was made on 15 March 1932, and the building was officially opened two months later, on 15 May. The main building is in Art Deco style, with a facing of Portland stone over a steel frame. It is a Listed building, Grade II* listed building and includes the BBC Radio Theatre, where music and speech programmes are recorded in front of a studio audience. As part of a major consolidation of the BBC's property portfolio in London, Broadcasting House has been extensively renovated and extended. This involved the demolition of post-war extensions on the eastern side of the building, replaced by a new wing completed in 2005. Mac OS (originally System Software; retronym: Classic Mac OS) is the series of operating systems developed for the Mac (computer), Macintosh family of personal computers by Apple Computer, Inc. from 1984 to 2001, starting with System 1 and ending with Mac OS 9. Balamory
''Balamory'' is a Scottish live-action children's programme on CBeebies for pre-school children, about a fictional small island community off the west coast of Scotland, named ''Balamory''. Four series were produced from 2002 to 2005 by BBC Scotland, with 253 episodes made (including a DVD-exclusive Christmas episode). The programme was created by Brian Jameson. To celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, 25 episodes from Series 4 were added to BBC iPlayer on 30 August 2022. ''Engie Benjy'' is a British stop motion animated pre-school children's television show, broadcast on ITV's children's strand, CITV. The titular character is a blue-haired mechanic who fixes problems with the help of his friends and an assortment of living vehicles. He owns a dog named Jollop and drives a breakdown van named Dan. Other characters include Driver Dottie, Pilot Pete, Astronaut Al, Messenger Mo, Fisherman Fin, Farmer Fred and Trucker Troy. The vehicles included in the show are Dan the Breakdown Van, Bus, Bike, Plane, Spaceship, Boat, Tractor and Big Rig the Truck. Gamezlab (formerly Runecraft) was a British video game developer based in Yorkshire. The company was founded in April 1997 and mostly developed games based on licensed properties. History In 2002, the company was commissioned by the BBC to develop a fighting game engine for the company's upcoming '' FightBox'' game show project. However, various financial issues, mismanagement, and other problems caused Runecraft to go bust at the end of December 2002. ''FightBox'' is a game show that aired on BBC Three from 13 October to 10 November 2003 and is hosted by Lisa Snowdon and Trevor Nelson with Paul Dickenson as commentator. Format Contestants design their fighters and submit them to the BBC. Out of hundreds of submissions, only sixty were chosen to appear on the programme. As well as battling each other, the fighters would face one of six "Sentients", warriors who had won previous (unseen) tournaments and achieved this honour. The Sentients were Banshi, Big George, Kodiak, Nail, Pearl and Vesuvius. Although immortal, they did have certain weaknesses which a fighter could use against them. After winning the first series, competitor warrior Kill Frenzy, created by Usman Arshad, achieved sentience and joined the current six. ''Fimbles'' is a British children's television series created and produced by Novel Entertainment. The series has 200 episodes, airing from September 23, 2002 to September 24, 2004 with repeats airing until early 2012 on CBeebies.
