Arthur Morse
Sir Arthur Morse ( Chinese: 摩士) (25 April 1892 – 13 May 1967) was the head of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation during and after World War II. He was a British banker born in Tipperary in Ireland. He worked in Shanghai, London and Tientsin and finally many years in Hong Kong. He rebuilt HSBC and did much to revive Hong Kong after the war, retired in 1953 and moved to London where he died in 1967. Morse was born in 1892 in Bohercrowe, County Tipperary, Ireland and his father Digby Scott Morse was a Bank of Ireland agent. and Lizzie Jane Holmes. Morse attended Foyle College in Derry, before embarking on his banking career with HSBC. Michael Turner (banker)
Sir Michael William Turner (1905 - 27 September 1980) was a banker for Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank and commandant of the auxiliary police in Hong Kong. Early life Turner was born in Winchester, England, in 1905. He was the son of Skinner Turner, at that time Judge of the British Court for Siam in Bangkok and later Chief Judge of the British Supreme Court for China based in Shanghai. Education Turner studied at Marlborough College and then University College, Oxford and obtained a degree in military history. He played field hockey with the English national field hockey team. Career Upon graduation, Turned joined the London office of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank (HSBC) and was then posted to Shanghai. Turner was later transferred to Singapore where he was interned in Changi Prison for the duration of World War II. It took him six months for him to recover from the conditions in the camp. Donovan Phillips Leitch (born 10 May 1946), known mononymously as Donovan, is a Scottish musician, songwriter, and record producer. He developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelic rock and world music (notably calypso). Hong Kong Jockey Club
The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) is one of the oldest institutions in Hong Kong, having been founded in 1884. In 1959, it was granted a Royal Charter and renamed The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club (). The institution reverted to its original name in 1996 due to the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong in 1997. Membership of the club is by nomination and election. It is a non-profit organisation providing horse racing, sporting and betting entertainment in Hong Kong. Cedric Blaker (19 November 1889 – 18 June 1965) was a British entrepreneur in China and Hong Kong. He was the chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, the ''South China Morning Post'' and the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and also an unofficial member of the Executive Council and the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. His son, Baron Blaker, was a Conservative minister. Biography Blaker was born in West Sussex, England, on 19 November 1889 to the Reverend Cecil Renshaw Blaker and Annie Kirtley Blaker. John Johnstone Paterson
John Johnstone Paterson (29 October 1886 - 29 January 1971) was a tai-pan of Jardine Matheson & Co. and a member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Biography The eldest son of William Paterson, a former partner at Jardine Matheson & Co. in the 1870s and 1880s, J. J. Paterson followed in his father's footsteps, becoming managing director of the firm in the 1930s. He also served as chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation on three occasions between 1932 and 1941. Paterson was first appointed to the Legislative Council in April 1930 as a stand-in for B. D. F. Beith. Subsequently, he was re-appointed to two four-year-terms in 1934 and 1938. The Scout Association Of Hong Kong
The Scout Association of Hong Kong is the largest scouting organisation in Hong Kong. Scout training was first introduced in Hong Kong in 1909 and 1910 by the Protestant based Boys' Brigade, Chums Scout Patrols and British Boy Scouts. The Catholic St. Joseph's College, formed its Boy Scout Troop in 1913, and registered with the Boy Scouts Association of the United Kingdom in 1914.
