Art Film Fest
Art Film Fest, previously known as Artfilm, is an annual international film festival founded in Trenčianske Teplice, Slovakia in 1993, shortly after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The first event was held on 14 June 1993, under the auspices of UNESCO. It is the longest continuously running international film festival in the country. In 2016, 23 years into its history, the festival was relocated to Košice, Slovakia's second largest city. The event traditionally takes place from 14 to 22 June and includes autograph signings, discussions, musical performances, and workshops. History Artfilm was created by film director Petr Hledík, who has been the festival's longtime artistic director. Košice Region
The Košice Region ( sk, Košický kraj, , hu, Kassai kerület; uk, Кошицький край) is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions. The region was first established in 1923 and its present borders were established in 1996. It consists of 11 districts ( okresy) and 440 municipalities, 17 of which have a town status. About one third of the region's population lives in the agglomeration of Košice, which is its main economic and cultural centre. Dušan Hanák
Dušan Hanák (April 27, 1938 in Bratislava) is a Slovak people, Slovak film director. Hanák graduated from the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts) in Prague in 1965. He began with a series of shorts at the Koliba, Koliba film studios in Bratislava. Juraj Jakubisko
Juraj Jakubisko (born 30 April 1938) is a Slovak film director. He has directed fifteen feature films, between 1967 and 2008. He often takes the dual role of cinematographer, and is often also credited as a screenplay writer as he usually co-writes or writes the scripts of his movies. In 2000 he was named Best Slovak Director of the 20th century by film critics and journalists. His work is often described as magical realism.
