Arenberg Research-Park
The Arenberg Research-Park is a science park founded by the KU Leuven in 2004. The science park is in the immediate vicinity of the Arenberg campus of the university in Heverlee (Belgium), UZ Leuven campus Gasthuisberg and IMEC. The park is 13 hectares and consists of different cluster-areas, with amongst others a bio-incubator for spin-offs of the university and space for companies active in research and development. Usage The bio-incubator housing is the prime of the biotech & pharmaceutical spin-offs of the KU Leuven university. Bio-incubator Leuven offers 40,000 sq. ft., but expansions to 80,000 sq. ft. is currently ongoing. Today it houses startups like Aelin Therapeutics, miDiagnostics, Antleron, scaleups like reMYND and Nasdaq-listed companies like Oxurion. Arenberg Castle
Arenberg Castle ( nl, Kasteel van Arenberg, french: Château d'Arenberg) is a château in Heverlee close to Leuven in Belgium. It is surrounded by a park. History The site had been the castle of the lords of Heverlee since the 12th century, but this family became impoverished and had to sell the site in 1445 to the Croÿ family from Picardy. Antoine I de Croÿ demolished the medieval castle and started works to build the current château in 1455 on the site, of which he destroyed all but one tower. His grandson, William de Croÿ, completed the works on the château in 1515, and founded a monastery on the château grounds for the Benedictine Celestines. The architectural style is in large part traditionally Flemish, with sandstone window frames and brick walls, though it has been structurally altered since 1515 and has elements of Gothic, Renaissance, and Neo Gothic architecture. Heverlee
Heverlee () is a town in Belgium. It is a borough of the city of Leuven. Heverlee is bordered by Herent, Bertem, Oud Heverlee and several other municipalities that are part of Leuven (including Leuven proper and Kessel-Lo). The town is the location of the Heverlee War Cemetery for Commonwealth casualties from the Second World War.
